I have a 98 Disco and was looking for the best steering dampener relocation kit. I saw one the other day it was $40 and was basically like Safari Guard, but I don't remember the web site. Any help would be appreciated.

Phil,
I am not an engineer and this leads me to the question of negative effects of articulation on this setup. Since the brackets accept only the straight shaft from the shock, and not a rotational mount as found in D90 dampeners, I would think there would be undue stress on both brackets as the suspension articulates.
Curious I am.

Bruce, You bring up an excellent point, in fact this was a concern of mine regarding the SG kit. A friend of mine had the SG kit installed on a truck with a 3 inch suspension lift. The lift incresed the angle of his dampener and I had pointed out that I thought the bushings would wear quickly, and that he should bend the mounts so that when the truck at least sat level the bushings would have no stress. (hope this is making some sence,) We ended making one up which we had the mounts on such an angle to insure a 90' with the mount and dampener, after watching the shock move under heavy articulation we realized the angle only worked in one direction.to make a long story short we left the mounts straight and have not had a problem with damaged dampeners or bushing wearing out too quickly. I will add that these kits are very simple and cost effective..I would like to build a rotational mount in the future and just might give it a try this summer... I've been running the kit on my truck for about 6 months and my friend has had one for about a year.. without any problems..and no damaged dampeners!!

Eye-to-eye mounting really loosens the strain and you feel it when crawling and steering at teh same time under heavy articulation.
I bought the SG kit and returned it because it simply did not work.
I am currently using a Nissan Patrol OME dampner with a bracket welded to the bumper and another to the steering rod, moves through without any issues.
