Hi All-

Just curious, I'm getting 18's for summer driving- the 16 rims I'd like to get a little bigger tire for winter snow driving in the mountains. I'm not seeing any agressive treads out there for the 255-65-16's so I'm thinking I need to go with a slightly bigger size, which I've heard requires a slight lift.

Any suggestions, I'm looking for subtle, not huge. 1" I guess. Do I have to go the whole spring/shock route? What are those 'spring spacers' I've seen? Trouble?

Thanks for any input

I have a D1, but I'd go talk to Expedition Exchange, expeditionexchange.com, and do a OME suspension upgrade. It'll pay off in control and ride quality. I have the medium duty OME springs and shocks and slightly larger tires. I have found the combination to be very rewarding. Otherwise, EE sells a spring spacers that will get you a 1.5" lift but no added articulation. They will only work in the rear though, as the front shock mounts inside the spring.

Go ahead and put 245 75's on your 16" rims and you don't have to worry about any lift on a D2

There is more room in the weel wells of a D2 than a D1

There is no good way to lift the front without putting in new springs, but you can put spacers in the pack. Here is the problem, if you decide to get spacers rather than springs you are only saving about $70. Is that worth it? BTW EE has some nice spacers.

Buddy,
How easy was it to remove your air dam? How much did it hurt your gas mileage when you did it?
