When I start my disco, I hear the sound of girgling water. It sounds like its right behind the dash but theres no leak. I dont recall it doing this all the time just the past 10k miles or so. Is this normal? It mainly does it when the engine hasnt reached operating temp. Any advice is appreciated.

This is a common sound when low on coolant.

Mine does it too, however the coolant level is not low. Sounds like a rush of water coming from the left side near the glove box.

No Sergei my A/C is not turned on. Mine does it after sitting over night, when it has not had a chance to warm up yet. Go to start it in the morning and I get the gurgle noise.

Roverchic, It is the sound of air bubbles in your coolant passing through your heater core.

Strange...mine does it to. However, my heater is capped off (part of the Gulf Spec design) and thus no coolant is passing through my heater core.
What else could it be?
I believe it is normal as I've heard it in other none Gulf Spec Discos as well.

Yup, what Chuck said.

Damn thing heats up, creates space, then it cools down and if there is any air in system - it collected there. Its not very good, ideally you shouldnt get any air in there, but on many occasions it makes its way. Also bubbles can be sign of some slow leak that allows air to slowly get into some micro hole, while leaking coolant.

My 1996 disco had the same noise until the day I change all the cooling system hoses, reducer hose, upper and lower radiator and oil cooling hoses. Now no more rush of bubbles. In my rooki wisdom I'd put my money on the slow leak that sits over night and allows a small amount of air into the system over night.

My 99 D2 had the same noise. Topped off the coolant twice. It ended up being a head gasket leak. LR is replacing the head gasket under the ext. warranty.
