I have a 98 disco that is stock except for a tjm 15 winch bumper and a warn xd9000 winch. I now want some OME springs to level out the disco and give it 1.5-2" of lift over stock. Since the front of the disco now weighs about 200 pounds more, I was thinking of getting OME HD in the front and OME MD/HD in the rear (since I don't carry much gear). I need around 1.5-2" of lift since I plan to fit 235/85 tires afterwards. Do these springs seem to be a good combo to achieve the lift I need? Should I get the matched springs or the DS and PS springs? Also if I need a little more lift, are trim packers safe/good to use in the front and/or back? Would I also need to get the OME shocks (I'd rather not if they aren't extremely necessary). Thanks for the help - Billy |

Try doing a search for lifts and/or springs. There's lots of good info in old threads. Also, check out www.expeditionexchange.com I think that combo should work though. |

what about spring recomendations. OME verse Rovertym verse others. ANy one have a bias and reaon for your Bias. I hear that OME sag after awhile and rovertyme apparently gives more lift. ANy info appreciated |

Search! You will likely find more information on this topic than what this thread will generate. OME are not custom springs with a variety of lift. You will in general get about 1-2" lift with the OME spring. I got about 1.5. Other resources state 1". You can add spacers if you wish. I was VERY hard on my OME set and they barely sagged after 5 years abuse. I have not heard about them sagging. But any spring will sag with time and use. I wanted to go taller and have Rovertym now. They gave me height, but are not as stiff as OME and they do not carry heavy loads nearly as well which means travel light when on the trail which is not always possible. They are sagging after about 1 year (they were used about 3k miles I think + my use). In addition to this I have not extended or provided additional shock extension which likely hurts my articulation area, so until I fix that I reserve judgement on the RTE springs. OME is the safe bet for 1-2" lift IMHO. To guarantee 2" you will likely need a one inch spacer and to make sure that you retain good articulation, you should really extend shocks on front and lower rear upper mount (or extend it too). Check the expedition exchange site for good information on OME springs and home made shock extenders. Remove the swaybars and make sure your brake lines are long enough to accomodate your wheel travel. |

Just call Steve at Rovertym and talk to him about his new springs. I am not running them so I cannot say a whole lot, but I have not heard of anyone complaning about the new set-up at Rovertym. |

Ive never had OMEs sag more than a fewmm's. All new coils do. You should get the shocks too as the longer spring will make the original top out . Bazzle

OME HD is highly recommended. I run OME and am very pleased. RTE brings up a lot of controversy; but people seem to keep going back to them; thus not making them all bad. People who want more lift than OME seem to migrate in this general direction. Have you ever heard of the Big Blue Monster Springs? I have seen a few Discos out there with them and they performed quite well. Just rememeber, all springs sag. |

I've used OME, Rovertym, and now Green Monsters. Of all, the Green Monsters have been my favorites. OME HD's = too stiff a ride and no lift options. Rovertyme's = sagged within a year. Green Monsters from Northwestparts.com. So far (2 years of hard use) no sag, great ride, endless options for lift height. |

Northwestparts don't have springs at this time.. I tried to get a set but I think they are having problems with their supplier... Call them and talk to Andy first |

I am pleased with my OME setup, but even with the heavy duty spring, all the stuff I carry makes the rear set down a little more than I like. Also, when I tow my camper the rear sags quite a bit. I was interested in the posts about spacers and extending shocks. Where can I get spacers, if this would help with the problem I described, and how would it affect the OME shocks. Exactly what is extending the shocks posted earlier and would I need to do that also? |
