After starting the engine in my 98 disco with 80,000 miles, the last couple of days the engine has been idling at different RPMs. It usually starts out at around 900-1000 RPMs which is normal for me. However, if i rev the engine, it will idle at 1500 RPMs and not settle back down to 900-1000 RPMs. This is only happening when in park or neutral. After driving a few minutes and putting the engine back into park or neutral, the engine acts like normal. What could this high idling be caused by and is it serious? |

Check your TPS sensor or your actual Throttle valve it might be sticking!!! Also clean out your IAC valve. If all those things are good and it still has a problem you might have a leak in one of the injectors causing the engine to idle high due to the extra gas in the system!!!! |

mine was doing something like this a few weeks ago. the throttle linkage was stuck a bit open. pushed it down, oiled it up and it's fine now... |
