won't matter, in three weeks it'll all be rusted. If they fit ,form and function like the take-offs, put'em on and go!

rotors come in a few different colors...depends on the brand...im not sure about who makes the black ones but i have a rear set that i purchased from a jaguar restoration place in san luis obispo, ca for only 28.00 if you are paying more than 35.00 dollars for rotors (unless drilled) you are paying way to much. I usually run brembo rotors but for some reason this all they had in stock. they appear to be very solid though so i wouldnt worry about it.

also pads can be very different from brand to brand. if you wheel a lot or carry heavy loads often make sure that brake pads can handle the heat. cheers

Ok this is what I got, all from Tire Rack, all is EBC, front pads are green stuff part number dp6814, rear are black and awfully small (a pepsi cap is in the picture for comparison purposes)is this right?( see picture)part # dp6663,
the rotors are anodized for the front part #gd 195, and black for the rear gd416, in the site they said anodized for imported applications and black for domestics, but I receive both finishes, what do you guys think?

Dude,

I just received a complete EBC kit from AB. All the pads are green, which if you read the www.ebcbrakes.com site, you will learn that they are for SUVs / Off-Road applications. Don't fret.
All four rotors however, arrived black.

You just titled a thread as an emergency...

...then you discussed the paint color of your new brake compenents.

Wow.

First of all I want to apologize, I realize now of my mistake and will try my hardest for this not to happen again, I'm ashamed of this, it seeamed like an emergency at the time in the sense that I am supposed to replace the brakes this weekend, and if they sent me the wrong parts I was not going to have enough time to send them back and get the proper parts, again, please accept my apologies for this mistake

I don't think its about paint color in a cosmetic sense, but paint color used to identify a different formulation of brake pad material.

If you look at the EBC website product page, they classify black as heavy street use, green as fast/heavy street use, red as sports use, so I don't think Marco was crying wolf.

But no worries Marco, I looked at the EBC web site product catalog, and the numbers you gave as part numbers check out as the correct pads for a 96 thru 98 discovery

how about the size though, all of them seem awfully small for such a big truck, When I replaced the pads in the prelude they seamed bigger.

those colors AFAIK, refer to the heat range on the pads, black being the "coolest" and green having a little higher range. This is important because not all pads are created equal from a operating temp. point of view. The Pagid orange pads i have on my porsche hardly stop the car until the very good and warm(read hot), then they work like the hand of god. I would think the combo of black on the back and green on the front might be a very good set up, as the fronts tend to heat up faster and carry more heat the rears. FWIW EBC gets great reviews from grassrootsmotorsports.com
