In addition to GBR, what are some sources for 4.11 gearing (for a D2)?

Good luck
Why don't you want to go with GBR? I just broke a GBR 4.11 and would be curious if your question is for product or personal reasons. Post any other sources you find for when I brake my new set. Max

I can't imagine any one would have a negative opinion of Bill at GBR. He has been great to me and I have not heard anything bad at all.

The only issue I could IMAGINE one having with Bill MIGHT be timing or availability of an item, but even then he bends over backwards to help you out. Particularly if you are already a customer.

I have only had positive experiences with Bill. My question is has anyone had problems with the strength of a GBR product. I did not think I did enough "hard core" wheelin to break the ring and pinion. I am new to it so maybe I did, I dont know. Back to this post Randy's can't help you nor can West Coast. Richard are you looking for a better price or??? Max

You MIGHT find someone else who can beat Bill's price if you search long and hard but Bill has a lot of knowledge and excellent customer service and thats worth any small savings you might get from a discount parts house. If I sound biased I am. I bought my drive shaft, front and rear lockers and axles from Bill and he worked with me from start to finish so I would recommend him to anyone.

Thanks for the responses.

My question has absolutely nothing to do with Bill or GBR. I have their rear driveshaft, rebuilt front driveshaft, and all of his free technical advice. I'm with the rest of you - I hold Bill Davis in the highest regard. It's only a timing issue. Bill's got his r&p's on backorder, and I'm on the list, but due to upcoming events I was considering an alternate source for speed's sake. That event isn't in my future now, so I'll keep waiting. Bill's actually offered me a situation that I don't want to pass up - he's going to send me complete set-up third members with the 4.11's and Truetracs, all I have to do is replace mine with them, and then send him my old ones. That's a lot of hassle taken out of the conversion.

I just need to be patient.........

Richard, that is exactly the route i took with Bill. I have his thirds with 4:11s, TT in front, Detroit in back, HD rear axles, front and read Driveshafts. Bill has right of first refusal on my next born child. He is a pleasure to work with.
Shipping back to him was made easy by him issueing pickups from UPS. It really doesn't get any easier than this.

I'm with you, it does seem the best way to go.

I opted not to go with the detroit in back because of having the expense of upgrading to HD axles, but I'm beginning to wonder if I should take the plunge. Any pros/cons?

Richard - TT's in your DS2 will work great. Do the third member swap with Bill. That is the easiest, quickest and safest way to go. His thirds are set up well and if you ever have any problem, the third member setup will never be in question. Plus, they are this ghastly green color that works well.

Go with the Detroit and HD axles. I've seen TT's break stock axles twice.

Richard, you should do HD axles with TTs too.

The immediacy of the HD shafts is somewhat reduced with TT compared to DL, but it's all borrowed time with traction diffs.
