94 D1. Please, take a look at this pic and tell me if the 2 bolts (and another one practically unreachable below) are the ones to remove the PAS pump (I just need to tie it out of the way to remove the engine). Or are the bolts on the shroud the ones I should remove, leaving the outer metal shroud attached to the engine? Problem is I can't get to the lower bolt easily. Thanks Dean

Dean, I had the same problem when I replaced the PS hoses recently. You have to remove the pump to get to one of the hoses (looks like yours need replacing while you're in there) The bolts you are pointing to are the ones to remove the pump, and the one on the bottom that is a bitch to get at. Good Luck, I have 4.0, looks like your's is a 3.9, you may have to pull the distrubtor to get at that bottom bolt. Hard to tell from the pic. Jeff |

Thanks indeed. I wonder if I can remove the 5 cover bolts easily if necessary to gain access to the bottom bolt? I've never had the PS pump apart. Well, I'll have a go first at the last bugger. Dean |

Dean, remove the 5 bolts that hold the bracket to the housing. then there are two bolts inside that hold the pump to the housing. Take the pump out. The main pump housing bracket will be easy to remove now. Jeff, you're saying that the pump has to be removed to get one of the ps hoses off? All you need is a flare nut wrench to remove the high pressure hose. You can remove it with everything else in place. Its not the easiest thing to remove, but it can be done. |
