Hello All! I have a 1997 Discovery, and my headlight washers either don't work, or they are clogged. They are supposed to spray the headlights when your lights are on low beam and you pull the lever to wash the windshield. I've checked the hoses, they are attached beneath the bumper, and I am thinking they may be clogged, as I can see a little drop of water on the washers...but no water on the headlights. Is there a way to unclog them if they are clogged, or is there maybe a fuse that controls the headlight washers themselves? Any help or suggestions would be most appreciated! Thank you.

Mine have gone out several times on my DII. Check the fuse.

You also have a one way check valve that may be stuck or clogged. Should be near the "T" connection for the washers.

Jim,

Use a needle or a couple of pieces of copper wire (just strip a braided wire and pull a couple of strands). Jimmy the wire into the nozzle to clear the jets. Then try the jets. Then try the wire...
The same thing happened on my rear window nozzle. The system gets junk in it and just needs to cleaned out. Also, pull the hoses off the jets to check if you have fluid (under pressure) reaching them. Good luck!

Jim, you almost got it right. They spray every THIRD time you wash your windshield, not the 1st time. See if that makes it work.

Is the one way check valve in the T-connections. I broke mine and replaced it with a brass one, but now when I fill my reservior is runs out the headlamp washers.

I beleive the one way is in the T connection, but you should be able to add a check valve prior to the "T" with no problem. Or just go to the dealer and buy the proper part. I am cheap, so I would just pick up a Check Valve.
