The Service Engine Light came on at 52,540 on my 2000 Disco. I went looking for the emission mainentance reminder box so I could re-set it. On my 95 Disco the box was under the passanger seat. On the 2000 Disco I thought it was behind the kick panel on the passager side. I could not find it. I called my friend, a mechanic who works on Disco's, and he told me that the box does not exist on the Disco 2000 (Bosch electronics). He told me I had to take it to the dealer and pay to have the code pulled and reset. Can anyone confirm this or provide other information. |

If your SES light comes on then your engine is causing a code to be put into the computer. Take it to Autozone and they will read the codes for free. If I had to guess I would say you need a new MAFS given the year and mileage. Your 95 Disco did not have OBDII diagnostics. |

Thanks for the info. I discovered that the gas cap had not been spun on. That must be it. Where is th OBD2 connector on the 2000 D2? Will I have to connect to a reader to reset it or will it eventually reset itself and go off? |

It will go off by itself if it was just the gas cap. Give it a day or two. The connector us under and to the right of the steering wheel. |

You can also disconnect the battery for a few minutes. This will reset the code, it will not clear the fault. |
