Is this how all V8 are? I've never spoken to a tech about this, but I know my truck does it as well. When you start it up the viscus coupeling (sp) is cold and it powers the cooling fan. After awhile, it realizes it doesnt need to power it and it freewheels (something like 3 min). If it starts to get warm, you will notice the same sound for a bit.
