Dumb newbie question: Its a 4speed Automatic right? Is it 4 speeds + overdrive? Or is the 4th gear supposed to be overdrive? If I'm in 3rd gear, I can shift it to D and it kicks down (obviously), so I assume that its now in 4th. But as soon as I hit 55mph it downshifts again? ... so I'm assuming thats overdrive. But does that not mean its a 4 speed + OVERDRIVE essentially giving you 5 gears? Someone help me sort this out in my head.

I think what happens in D when you feel that second "shift" is the torque converter locking up. |
