anyone actually follow the manufacturer/dealer spec'd service intervals? I'm wondering if, since LR picks up the tab for all maintenance issues for the first 50000 miles, if folks out there were actually brave enough to ONLY do the recomended? Any horror stories? Ever try to twist the dealer's arm into changing your oil every 3500?

I think if I waited 7000 miles for an oil change I'd have a crank-case filled with pudding!

From my understanding,US regs mandates mfgr to recommend oil chgs every 15k to keep smog warranty in effect. Therefore, mfgrs do the absolute minimum. Other mechanics and dealer service personnel say every 3K, to preserve engine life.
I have local garage perform oil chg every 3k.
I think doing recommended=planned obsolesence.
Hope this makes sense.

no,no. thanks for the response but I think maybe I didn't post the question clearly enough. If the LR dealer pays for the works acording to the service guidelines set forth by the manufacturer, then has anybody had any experiences JUST doing the service covered by this program? Anyone with any experience maybe leasing a Disco, and therefore doing the basic maint. only?

James I have often wondered that myself..According to LRNA Schedule "Passport to Service" we should do the service @ 60k then 67.5K and so forth.
I always change the oil every 3k miles--I would NEVER change the oil every 7K miles! Anybody out there ever followed the 7k mile oil change schedule?

So LR covers all maintenance issues up to 50k? How about if you are a second owner?

If LR is being goofy about it ... in between each oil change take it elsewhere and get it changed, then go back for your "free" service every second time.

On my 96 Disco (had for 5yrs) I only changed the oil every 7500 miles. I had no engine problems
My 03 I plan to do the same.

thanks for the responses. Looks like every 3500 for this one too! I just don't have 'goodies' big enough to only do the LR recomended service intervals.
