Cary,
In the past I have used Lucas tune up in a bottle with good results and no harm to the converters. However, after reading some threads from this site, I decided to try Sea Foam. I use the regular sea foam in the tank about every other oil change and I use Deep creep in the engine via a suction line. I have to say I have noticed a slight increase in performance, mileage and a steadier idle. There are many threads on this site regarding this stuff and how to use it.

B&G44K (11K miles one, not the supercharger). Thats what most of pro-shops and truckers will use, and there is reason for that :-)

I've been very pleased with BG44k and Amsoil PI in my other non LR cars. I just got my '00 Discovery and haven't used either of the two in it yet. I did have my rover in for the 45k service where they added LRN5010I fuel conditioner. I've read that the LR mechanics state that this has helped significantly in preventing sticky valves.

I used Amsoil PI at the recommended rate to "clean" for several tanks and then installed Amsoil in the engine (after flushing), trans, transfer case and both diff's, when I bought a 2000 D2 with 50K. Now it is so smooth that I am really happy, starts perfect with no dry engine sounds, as synthetic "hangs" for very long periods... I have used Amsoil for many many years and have always been very pleased with the results.

i've not tried the BG44K, but have a lot of experience with the Lucas junk- worked wonders on my sticky 16 year old motor.

Where do you guys get your BG 44K from? Tried Autozone and Pepboys - no luck.

Steve - NAPA stores and shops carrying it. Some dealerships/shops do. Most of truck stops do. Some petrol stations in Utah do.

Easiest way - go to their site and locate distributor closest to you, then phone them up :-)

Thanks, found it on-line. The distributors want to 'install' it for you. I think I might be able to do that myself :-)

Yeah, pouring can of fluid into gas tank is indeed hard job :-)

I just got quote from local shop that does cleaing using B&G stuff - its 120$ for discovery, and they do whole thing - injectors, air, fuel cleaners, using special machine and blah blah. With price of one can of stuff being about 20$, and other two about 14-20$ - looks like fair price.

Hmm... am I to deduce here that it's best to use a fuel system cleaner while your oil is pending a change soon, because it sends the ick stuff through... or something...

Rather than when you have brand spanking new oil?

Or am I displaying how much I know (not) about oil... :P Need to visit howstuffworks.com again... sigh.
