Have to an emissions inspection and just fixed the problem causing the codes. I have removed the battery cable to get rid of the light, but of course the codes are still stored in the computer (in GA if ANY code is present you fail automatically). I know Autozone will reset the codes no problem, but is there any certain number of miles I must drive or anything for the computer to be ready to be tested? I have to spend $30 on an inspection for them to tell me it is not ready. Thanks. |

My friend (who's also the LR tech at the dealer) plugged in the computer, read the codes, and then cleared them all. You should be able to fix the problem, clear all the codes, and be fine from there. I don't have a code reader myself, this is just what I noticed from watching him do it. Matt |

Same emission stuff in Utah. The system (evap, o2, catalytic, etc.) must run its own self test. The self test will only run during certain operating conditions. So, to make a long story short, it depends on the system. Catalytic sytem checks are the hardest, and usually requirs some highway driving from cold to warm. I would just put a good 300-500 miles on it during various highway/city driving and have it retested. Some cheaper scanners wont show the readiness monitors. |
