Look at the max. load at (max. pressure) listed on the tire and run that pressure. Best fuel economy, load rating, and (IMO) tire wear. Possibly not the best ride though. Of course this is for on road use. |

I have BFG MT's in that size. I run 35 front 42 rear. You can do the chalk test, or just see what pressures you think work the best. I try to keep about a 7lb difference front and rear. |

Tire pressure has been gone over time and time again in the discussions - do a search and you'll find ooggles of info. The chalk test - on black pavement, draw a line with chalk and drive over the line. Look at the line and see where the tire has taken off the chalk - too much in the center, and the tire is over inflated, too much taken off the sides means its under inflated. You want even removal across the width of the tire. Much more accurate and customized to your needs. Driving at the max pressure is not recommended, since it states only what the maximum the tire can handle, and not what's needed for the application. For example, stock tires on the Disco have a certain max pressure (I can't remember what it is) but if you look at the driver's side door jam, LR has determined the optimal tire pressure to use, which incidently is different for the front and the rear. For the best results, different people are going to have different tire pressures since some people are carrying less or more gear (winch, rack, trailers, ect...) |
