Anyone have any insight into putting 1"-1.5" spring spacers on a DII with stock suspension? I am putting some 245/75 bfg all-terrains on stock suspension, and am wondering if I could put some small spring spacers on to get just a little more lift without putting a full OME lift on yet. I have seen spacers for the front, but not the rear. Are they available for the rear? I'm guessing the shocks will top out, but am not sure. Any thoughts?? Thanks, Jeff |

Hmmm. I've only seen rear spacers. Check out Expedition Exchange in the vendors section of this site. They have really good rear spacers. They also comment on why front spacers may not be a good idea. Are you D1 or D2 ? Send me a link or lead on the fronts. I'm interested to see how they fit around the shock. Thanks. |

Jeff, I gotcha on this one. I am running matched 777 up front with rear 1.5" EE spacers. The OME setup will really only get you about 1.5" of lift, so you are looking at the same height. I would not recommend the spacers. I wish I had sprung for new springs . When you put spacers under the rear spring seat your rear end will bottom hard as the bump stop is not very effective anymore. However, with my setup and soft valve shocks the ride is horribly soft. I am getting some firm valve shocks and they should be delivered on monday. I am thinking the soft spring stiff shock setup will make the truck ride really nice. FYI, Mercedes has always spec'd the use of soft springs and stiff shocks. My point being, I saved about $60, and if I end up getting longer bumpstops I will actually have paid about the same as what I would have had I not decided to be cheap. Dont do it. BTW, the RTE front spring spacers wont work with the stock D2 suspension I was told. Matthew |

Tom, http://mku.dhs.org/discovery/4sale/spring_spacers.htm Here's the link to the spacers that I found. I emailed the guy to try to find out more info. I noticed that he isn't manufacturing them any longer. Not sure why. It looks like the front spacers are the same as the rear in the photos. Check it out, and let me know what you think. Thanks for the info. |

Matt, Thanks for the info. Sounds like the best thing to do is to just wait, and do the full OME lift huh? The tires should fit fine. I just wanted to get a little space in the wheel wells. We'll see what happens. I guess if I get them on there, and they rub a little I'll just have to put the lift. Darn!! I would really hate that. Thanks again for the info. Jeff |

Jeff I just did the whole HD OME thing with 265/75R16 BFG Muddies. If you are going to do anthing first, I would do the suspension 1st and tyres later, cos you can, If you are a newbie, not saying you are, you will learn to drive a higher machine slowly and carefully. Then get your big rubber and step up. By the way, I don't think there is a DII like mine done here anyway. I'know Mahn and a couple others are reading - CODEWORD: JENOLAN |
