Could someone please clarify something for me, is it better to have the timing advanced or retarded. I am experiencing some pinging under load or when car hits running temperature. I was able to fix it before by going to Supreme gas, but now is pinging again and I want to reset my timing. I had heard that retarding the timing would help minimize the pinging but I am not sure by how much. One more thing how much is one degree, the book has pictures but the distrubutor does not look like the pictures at all, it dosen't even have a scale. Is one degree one mm or is more like a cm? Finally what do people recomend, factory specs of 5 degrees? My Disco is a 95 with 130K, running good otherwise.
