I was looking to find info on aftermarket hitches for my mothers Touareg as the dealer charges $700 for the OE job. I saw this topic asking for pictures of muddy Touaregs and any off road pics.....this is the best one anyone could post, and sadly a few of the members commented how dirty it was....

HAHAHAHAHA! LOL!

That is funny Matt. Since your mom has a Touareg, you might be able to answer a question I posted a while ago. Will the nifty little lighter-flashlight work in any lighter outlet. That is, can I buy one of the flashlights and use it in my Disco.

Jeez, that's one dirty rig. They must have hit a puddle going atleast 30-35 mph considering the trajectory of the splash.
HEHE.

Michael, that is a nifty light, and is quite bright. I dont see why it would not work in the Disco, but I know our outlets are a little bigger than the standard. Next time I see her I will find out for sure.

Matt -- that sounds great. I got a brochure from VW in the mail and when I saw that light I was intrigued. Please let us all know.

That is kind of funny, but it's also pretty sad. Looking at the numbers, the Toureg is a pretty capable SUV.

Thanks,

It is a pretty capable rig from what I've seen (like on 4x4 TV). My parents want to trade in the 4Runner for a diesel Touareg (do they sell diesel now, or is that in the future?).

I'd like to know how they think that thing is dirty?

The V10 diesel is coming this summer. See http://www.thecarconnection.com/index.asp?article=6873 and scroll down the the item called "VW rolling out in 2005."

From what I have seen it is capable too. Hers has a rear locker and center locker and the air suspension. I played around with it once in a lumpy grass field behind her house (I know not real wheeling but about as much as I could do without getting yelled at) just to see how some of the stuff worked and I was impressed. The low range is nice and low and even though it will lift wheels like crazy in the "jacked up" mode on the supension the lockers just rocked. Still, i dont think it really felt as stable always teetering as the Disco but it will go about where ever you point it. Seems to have better approach and departure angles than Disco, especially in the high suspension mode. Matthew tell your parents I give it a thumbs up. BTW, V10 TDI is gonna rock, but still probably get 17-18 mpg.

Sweet -- although, if VW is anything like LR, that flashlight will run a zillion dollars. Although, I could go test drive one and .... ;-)

Nah, Micheal unfortunately they mail them to you, at least in our case. They have them at http://www.tregcentral.com/Scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=69 . $36....not too bad I guess.

Smart those Germans ... very smart. :-)

But, really, $36 is not too bad for it. Once I get a little cash freed up, I just might have to get one.
