Has anyone seen the new CT video entitled "Camel Trophy: Land Rover Years (1989-1998)?" It is advertised in most of the LR mags from the UK. I have the CT 1994 video (on VHS) sold here in the US and was wondering how the quality of this new video is. Also, am curious if I can get the DVD of this new title here in the USA.

The 1994 video is OK. It runs 52 minutes or so, but shows far more talking than Rovering. It is enjoyable nonetheless.

Mike-
Seen it on Ebay, thought about buying it, one thing to point out is make sure you have a DVD player that is compatible with the format (PAL I think) I was under the impression that their DVD players read both ways, but as usual, ours only read ours. A work around appears to be a computer DVD player.

Someone has to know more about the formatting differences though, b/c I am technology idiot.

If you click on "store" at the very top of this page, there is a link to a site where you can check the compatibilities of DVDs and your player.

The DVDs and players are broken down into different regions. The US and Canada are in one region while Europe is another. There are some DVD players that will play all the different regions encoding. I don't remember which ones off hand. Search the web and you'll find them. Quick search found this site http://www.220-electronics.com/

Michael, I'm glad you posted b/c I was wondering the same thing. Read about the PAL version and decided not to buy one of the DVDs...don't think it will work here...Region 1 is Europe...if you can find region 0 that should work.

I'm also wondering where to find one of the 1987 Madagascar videos. We have 1995 Mundo Maya (ok) and 1996 Kalimantan (GREAT!). Want to get some with RRC!

Ray,

You're correct, you can usually play a PAL DVD on your 'puter. Anyone know of a good reliable way to convert a PAL DVD to NTSC?

I'd also like to get a hold of that CT DVD. To bad it doesn't have footage from 87, that was a great year. I saw that video a couple of years ago, and it's probably my favorite...

Thanks,
Nathan Hindman

Nathan - easiest way is to buy DVD, re-encode it on your computer and burn new VCD or DVD.

Only problem is that not each DVD player plays DVDs/VCDs made on computer - old generation (2+ yrs old wont suppport them in most cases).

Or you guys can go and buy Apex DVD player which is actually zone free. It priced at about 50$ only. And i think Samsung makes another one.

And if you need something right away - i can do it for you just for the heck of it - have to recode few tapes anyway sometime (russian movies are in PAL too)

Just called the link that Tyler posted: they say region 1 is US, region 2 is Europe, and region 0 should work in any dvd player.
Got an email from LRE, they say the CT dvd is region 0: not sure if there are other versions floating around out there.

Gotta get one of those :-)
