I hadn't seen this in some thime, but picked it up on DVD this weekend. For those new to the Land Rover Scene, this movie is a LR cult movie because of the major part the infamous 88, named "AntiChrist" has in the story.

The movie is just as funny now, as when it came out in 1980..... :-)

LOVE THOSE MOVIES!!!! The best part is when he's trying to open the gate and keep the rover running w/o brakes! :-)

(Just an aside): We watched "Billabong Odyssey" this weekend, which is about tow-in surfing and it had a few Defenders in it!!

I picked it up at Eas Coast Video, but I suppose you can find it pretty much everywhere. You get both the first movie and the sequel in the same box.

I'm kinda partial to when the rover gets winched up in the tree. Bill Burke would cringe, but this is fiction...... :-) :-)

Oh yeah, that is the classic scene....but can you imagine what would actually happen?! I'm picturing bolts/panels flying everywhere!!

I was actually discussing those movies with an anthropologist the other day! (we left out mention of the LRs!)

Both "The Gods must be Crazy" and "The Gods must be Crazy II" are available on Netflix.

Although the second one is not very good.

Maybe LR needs to cut and paste some of that into an ad. Oops. I guess there isn't enough pavement in those movies for an LR ad.

Just released on "Video" a couple of weeks ago. Can now be gotten just about anyplace that sells DVD's/Video Tapes. You might have to order it, may not be "In Stock". The special features were quite enjoyable!

Leslie - hate to tell that, but DVD will wear out too. So get DVD as master copy and make VHS or digital copy that will be loaned or watched on regular basis :-)

(I have some DVDs from few years ago that now arent playable. Including few DVDs with Flying Circus episodes :-(()

Looking forward to it!

For those of you who surf or watch surf movies.. There's a really good movie called "Shelter" and the opening scene is a great one with a Defender 110 4-door cruising along a beach in Australia. The thing makes random appearances thoughout it.

My favorite scene is when the riding lawnmower is towing the broken down Series Land Rover across the desert. The guy driving the lawnmower gets off while it's still driving, walks back and gets into the Rover and continues the journey in tow. I doubt that Land Rover would use that scene in their commercials.

I found the DVD set today at Barnes & Nobel, it has both of the movies on it. Can't wait to watch them, sounds hillarious and I've never seen them! The young man who rang them up said that his class had watched them in school, studying the movies as a socialogy study project. This is a cool thread!!

You know, actually it wouldn't be such a bad idea to carry one of those little tractor thingies on the back of your Disco next to your spare tire. That way you could tow your Rover back to the dealer every time it breaks down instead of having to call a tow truck. It could be about the size of those little "Rascal" things they sell to cripples, only with a gas engine.

Oh my gosh, this movie is hilarious!! 30 minutes into it and I'm laughing like a fool! :-)

Has anyone else noticed that the "bad guy" leading the terrorists looks strangely familiar??

I think I'll be making a purchase soon :-)

Anyone else know of any "LR cult movies?"

I wanted a Rover ever since I watched that movie for the first time when I was about 9. I distinctly remember thinking it must be a cool car if it can winch itself into a tree.

Anyone notice the double Rover sighting on America's Most Wanted last night?

Jamie, I remember the terrorist, but why does he look familar to you?

That mower must be a Deere...
