I agree, really nicely done. I always enjoy the first-person perspective of the dashcam. I've shot a lot of travel videos like that and it's always fun to re-live a trip that way.

Hey Dean!!!

On the ice, they were fine. ....it's in the mall parking lot that they have trouble with.

How thick is the ice down there now. Hard to tell from the video. Some of the lakes seemed melted already.

Well done. I did a bit of that myself yesterday, and got the truck really messy. It was great.

Dean,

This was back in early Feb. ....It was very cold and the ice was thick. ...I'm sure it's melted a bit by now.

BTW, sorry I didn't give you a call, it was a last minute thing. ...and very tame for you.

He thats ok Carl, my D2 has been in the shop for 10 days now fixing and waiting for parts. I pulled and ABS sensor and tripped the light in the ice. They needed a new hub for the sensor (*sigh*) and they didn't have any so they took one off a new vehicle in the port, and are installing that one! Apparently they do this ALL THE TIME because of lack of parts availability! An di promised myself I wouldn't go crunching through that crap again! But glad you had a ball! We must meet up again down there one day.

yup, gotta love the Mac. I couldn't live without mine.
This was cut with iMovie, Apple's free movie editor. ...But I've got to give some credit here, although we both filmed, my friend (Land Cruiser) did the edit on his Mac.

Tom,

Carl's been through water crossings deeper than you could even dream about. What's on that video is clearly all he could find that day that was not frozen over:-)

Not wanting to burst your bubble though.

Nice photo Tom, if I'm not mistaken, there is a puddle in the forground, an large lump of dirt in the mid ground and then the puddle that you hit too fast behind that. ...looks like fun though.

...and about the potholes....I like in Brooklyn NY, ....you want to see POTHOLES.

Dean has a point, I still need a new owners manual since I flooded the one that sat in the driver's door.

ryan,
i have to admit, i'm notoriously lazy to a fault when it comes to cleaning my Rover and the thought of cleanin' off all that mud and muck gives me the shivers. and don't even get me started on the ecological impact. believe me when i say that the less the grean peacers and Sierra clubbers have to bitch about, the more trails stay open. oh shit, sorry, stepping off my soap box now.

carl, sorry to jump your thread, video is great, so tell us how hard was it to get Perry Farells consent to use his song? hee, hee, hee

Good point Marc, very true! I would hate to loose those 4 wheeling privilages. They've closed off enough trails as it is. Maybe I'll think twice before I show off in front of the jeeps like that again.

Whoa Carl you hit it on the nose. There were three mud boggs next to each other. I guess it must be a southern thing judging by Dean's reaction. One of the reasons I left the north. Dean life is too short lighten up, I meant no offense by my posts and am deeply sorry I struck such a nerve with you. Can we still be friends?

Ah, don't worrie about Dean, he's a very happy mellow guy, as long as you don't plug up his snorkle. Besides, he's just lookin out for me, it ain't easy living in New York with an orange Land Rover.

....but he does know about water!

Finally calling it orange now eh Carl? :-)

Tom, apologies for over-reacting. Carl's a good friend of mine, and he's been through all kinds of shit with that rover, with me and others.

Which reminds me Carl, have you got the lift and tires on yet, ready for another barrens run? Cant tell from the video. Boy have we got some cool trails for you! (Snorkel recomended). In the spring I hope you and lucy can make it down there again. Tom you're very welcome if you're ever up this way.

Yea Dean, She's lifted with some nice meats now. BFG-AT KOs (not the mudders like yours) I finaly mounted the highlift, and still plan on getting that roof flooring in.

But I can't seem to stop with my MG project.

Tom,
Where are you located, ...Dean has been know to travel great distances in search of new forms of mud.

In Tom's defense, there's not much wheeling to do in NOLA that doesn't look just like that. Terrain is completely flat down here in the river delta. You should see the golf courses...

Wha yous guys means? Carl that reminds me of a New York welcome a friend of mine had some years back. She was a big fan of fountain Dr. Pepper, which is hard to find up north. She went in to a resturant and ask "Do y'all have Dr. Pepper?" the responce was "No, we all don't"

Dean I can help you blend if you come down, I grew up in the Philly suburds. I wont let anyone take you on any oneway fishing trips.
