When you find it, make sure you mount it inside the windshield so you don't forget what you're driving.

Maybe it will help morons to figure out what type of vehicle it is.

I was walking back to my truck from a rest area and this guy who was inspecting my truck said "Sweet jeep man."
I said, "It's not a jeep."
He then said "Yeah man, I was trying to figure out what it was..."

"...said "Sweet jeep man."
I said, "It's not a jeep.""

It cracks me up when people say that.

They walk all around the truck, but the don't notice the huge "LAND ROVER" decal on the hood?

Isn't it great! My girlfriend still calls it the "jeep" from time to time. I've gotten to where I just give her a dirty look now, but she seems to think that the word, "jeep," automatically implies any SUV... but then again, I always generalize the things she does, ie. I say, "The Mall," when I know it's a certain store she bought something at, etc. so I guess it works both ways.

Marketing is at its aboslute prime when a prodcut is refered to by brand name.

Jeep is not on the same level as such things as Kleenex, and Crayons... but it has reached a level of symbolism for all 4WD vehicles.

"the word, "jeep," automatically implies any SUV"

In russian it is, actually. No freakin' way i can use abbreviation SUV in it :-)

So its getting to point where some newspaper article would say "New Land Rover model of jeep Discovery..". And i am not kidding. I really seen it :-)

But then i am always comforted by fact that every baby diaper product is called "pampers".. :-) Way funny to see how single brand becomes product recognition thingy.

DIDDO ALL OF THAT !! My boyfriend does the same thing!!! He is like "Let's take the Jeep or he will call it a Jeep wagon."
Finally one day, I had it !! We drove half way across the city to the nearest Jeep dealership and I left him there (yes it was mean but he had to learn a lesson).
When I came back 3 hours later..I was like Allen? What kind of car do I drive ?? He replies "Land Rover" . Mission accomplished! Now all we need to work on is the toilet seat(DOWN PLEASE) :-)

I had my friend's 6-year-old son ride with me at the last event since the heater broke in his RR and his son was tired of wearing the sleeping bag. During the day, we had an extensive conversation about the names of different Land Rover trucks and models. RR, D1, D2, Defenders, both 90 and 110, and the "old fashioned" ones that are gouped as "series trucks." He also knew that each of these names was preceeded by "Land Rover." He also got to play video games on my laptop too.

The people who do know what a LR Disco 2 is are all excited that I have such a high class vehicle, etc. Then when they see it they freak out about what I have done to it and the status of my paint job.

The worst was when I was forced to give a ride to this pompous ass who brought an equally pompous girl with him. They were talking about their friends whose parents bought them Land Rovers and how special they were for having such a vehicle. Then I told them that they were riding in a LR right now. They thought I was making it up at first.

Similar incident in an accident. The police report said Ford Landrover discovery on it. Cracks me up how little the public knows about these vehicles

I was out with a few people a couple of months ago and we were parked at a truck stop when someone asked the owner of a 110 what year his HUMMER was.

The fact that the 110 had Land Rover ovals all over it said an awful lot about the guy asking the question.

Ryan, there aren't many bears around Moab, but the puma/mountain lions might provide the same entertainment. Just take lots of clothing, and tell your significant other to leave the 4" heels in town.

I think the worse thing is when people don't know where these trucks are MADE. Had a friend give me shit for driving a "JAP" car and I had to show him the door jam sticker to prove him wrong. HELLLOOOOOOO

I guess it's just rare that women are car buffs. I can identify make/model of almost every car/truck/suv I see. And usually share some other information. I'm constantly reading the new model magazines, etc. But I had a colleague at work come in the other day talking about a new Land Rover she saw that had a weird bar around the back. I asked her if it was a three door Freelander? She said she assumed all SUVs are four doors. AHHHH! :-)

Andy: 2L and loving it! I am looking into Criminal Defense(maybe) .. I see your a DA ?? HUMM??

SSV: HELLO!! I think your are correct about girls not really being car buffs. My best friend always calls me over her boy-f when she has car troubles? I am like Ginny, you need to call your boy-f... "My check engine light came on, can you check my codes/reset them??" Do you know what that code means? I love her to death its just funny .. I tell her Gin do not know if I can fix it or not..I can barely fix my own rover some days!

I suppose I could contact RC to check white lettering availability.

I got out of a parking ticket a few yrs back because the idiot wrote the vehicle down as a Toyota Land Cruiser. I ignored the ticket and got a few notices sent to me, then I fired a letter back stating that I have never and will never own a Toyota Land Cruiser, and while the license plate did match my vehicle, the ticketing official obviously made a mistake. I never heard back from them. :-) So sometimes it's a blessing having these trucks confused with others. haha

Will, 3 were sent to me by a friend from Turkey a few years ago. Obviously they are not genuine :-) and I assume that RC wont have them, but they were nice. I dont know where he got them unfortanatly. I would suggest contacting John Vigg of Vigg Designs to see if he would do a white version of the one he currently offers.

I pulled into Thornton's last Monday.

When I selected my fuel, the clerk announced over the PA "Welcome to Thorntons where we have 100% guaranteed fuel, the yellow and black Jeep is approved for fill up".

I promptly replied out-loud to myself "It's a Land Rover Dumbass" I think he was able to hear me through the intercom on the pump because he was very embarrased when I went to pay.

What's 100% guaranteed fuel? It all burns? And they do that at all Thorntons?
Sorry, never been to one. That'd be annoying.

Would you believe that I actually asked the clerk that? About a month ago I had it. I hate dipshit marketing campaigns like that (ask Jennifer she gets to hear me rant about it constantly).

"What is this 100% crap" I asked. "It means that if you have any problems to your car because of our gas, then we will fix it 100%) she said.

Me:"How can you tell if your gas caused my problems? What makes your gas any different" Her: "We just can and it's 100% Guaranteed"
Me: "Okay, so how many cases do you know of when Thornton's paid for damage from your gas?"
Her: "Umm, I don't know".
Enough said.

Do they think we are all that f^cking stupid?
Evidently someone is, I 100% Guarantee it.

Try driving a RRC and then explain that Land Rover makes it. I was looking for shocks for my RRC and they guy asked me what kind of car I said Range Rover, he said we dont have that make in our computer system. So I had to go into the whole situation, and then he kept trying to say that Range Rover made Land Rover. People just say jeep because they are too lazy to read the stickers or badges telling everyone what kind of Suv's we have.
