I saw a post over a year ago with types of child seats people used in their disco. I currently have a 97 disco and I am looking for a forward facing child seat. The child is at the 30lb mark and I am wanting one with out the drop down bar. Was just wandering what people were using and how they anchored them best. I have baby #2 on the way and he/she will be sitting in the center in the old car seat, and the new one will go on one of the sides. Ideas and comments appreciated in advance as this is important to me. |

I've used this Century one in my RRC for a while now:
It's good for 30-80lbs if used with the seatbelt around the kid (30-40lbs if you feed the belt through the back). There's a clip that holds the shoulder belt in a comfortable position and the built in harness holds the kids up when they fall asleep. It's worked very well off-road also. SC |

Aaron, see if you can't try them out in that config first. I know some people have problems getting two full size car seats side by side in a Disco because of the way the seat is cut around the wheel well. pwc |

For anything over 30 Lbs you can use a Britax Star Riser. I have two Star Riser and one Roundabout. I also have others from various makes and the Britax cannot be beat in any area. Britax makes absolutely the safest car seats made. Accept no other. |

Steve how is that mounted down. It sure looks very functional, the little guy hates feeling trapped and he is always trying to put on one of the big seat belts anyhow. Peter I think you are right. I better do a dry run tonight. |

Steve - you need to trash that Century and get the Britax Star Riser. Look at Ho's link. The Britax takes up much less space and is made to wear like steel. Once you go Britax you will never go back. |

"Steve how is that mounted down. It sure looks very functional, the little guy hates feeling trapped and he is always trying to put on one of the big seat belts anyhow." It's held in by the big seatbelt. You can either feed it through the back of the seat or put it over the kid. My son does it all himself - the harness and the big seatbelt - I do check it of course. "I like my seat, at least we've never owned ProComp lights"
No more child seats! I think we've gone through about six between the two kids. My daughter is out of them now and my son's almost ready for the booster. SC |

Steve- I'm thrilled no more car seats as well. My wife bought one of those Century seats and it's been gathering dust in my garage as I went and bought a Britax seat instead. That Century didn't impress me. BTW- you of all people should know that the UK social welfare system needs your $upport-Buy Limey! |

I'll 6th the opinion... I don't have kids, but I sure do see a lot of car seats fit into a lot of Rovers. The best fitting seats by far are Britax. In any kind of LR. They are rock solid in a Rover. Just get a mighty tite if you don't have LATCH in your car. And get the little non skid pads. They keep the seat in place, protect the leather, and keep the cheerios from getting ground in. |
