I made that mistake once too. You start seeing them everywhere. It only gets worse so just go get another one before you hurt yourself!

"she who must be obeyed" God, I'm glad I'm not like that. (not that your wife isn't great Watson) I'm the one who pressured my husband into buying a RRC. And I'm trying desperately to sell his Explorer for another Rover. I'm insane.

Hope you get her back Watson. I'm sure she misses you too. Maybe after selling her off, she'll run better!
Ryan, good luck getting back on the road.
Chris, sell the Volvo. Keep the Disco.

I hate to admit it, but in November 2002 I traded my rig in for a Suburban. Same thing: family pressures.

That was on a Friday. On Monday afternoon I took the Sub back to the dealer and begged for my Disco back. I just could not handle driving such a POS. They graciously gave me back my Rover and my money. My wife now accepts that there is no turning back.

That Disco fell on its roof and sits covered in my driveway. It has been replaced with a '98 D1 that currently has nothing but air existing between the axle housings and flywheel. The saga continues with me spending sleepless nights in the garage...

LOL Matt... you gatta hear the whole story to know just what an adventerous christmas it was.

The short is, Christmas eve, my bro and I hangin. He's a nurse adn was called into work, so I decide to travel the 40 miles into Salt Lake to spend it with my friend. Going over a Mnt pass in a big snow storm, and hear a knocking, but no warning lights. Short is no oil pressure, engine blown.

All my friends are outta town, adn the one I was going to meet had left his cell phone in his car, so I wait from 10 pm till 2:00, am in the disco, for my little bro to get off work and come pick me up. A highway patrole man told me to push it off the pavement, and on to the dirt, and that would allow me 24 hours instead of the 2 hours before the city towed it.

The next day, I grab my 32' gooseneck flatbed trailer, and run up to grab the rover. It's about 5 pm christmas day, there was a ledge onto the pavement that we just couldn't seem to push the rover over, so I pull the truck and trailer off on the dirt, and my friend and I get the rover on the trailer and strapped down.

All together we've been their in the snow storm about a half hour, but I get underway. As I start pulling foreward, a 1.5 ft drainage pipe just under the surface of the dirt collapses under the wieght of the trailer, and the whole right side goes down.

The shreaded pipe tears apart the front right trailer tire, and the wieght of the trailer and impact pop the bead on the rear trailer tire, the body of the trailer on that side is now resting on the ground, and the whole thing is sitting on right about a 45 degree angle. I thought it was going to flip with my rover on it for sure!

A cop stops and calls in a tow truck, and all together it is about 4 hours before we manage to get the trailer out, by winching it from the side so it doesn't flip. I replace the popped tire with the spare, then carefully drive to a gas station and manage to get the bead to pop on the other tire, and then put it in place of the shredded tire. The tow bill alone would have been cheaper for me to have just had it towed home, than to have him pull me out like that, not to mention the tire to replace. But I'm just not the kind of guy who likes to ever call a tow truck, especially with owning the trailers.

If it wasn't ironic enough spending Christmas eve stuck on the side of the road in a snow storm, it's even more so being stuck in the exact same circumstances on Christmas day! Oh well, now it's now a cool story I get to tell.

I still love the rover! I now have a winch installed on teh trailer, so I can pull anything up on it without having to leave the pavement. I have spent most nights doin something to get teh rover back on the road, I am getting pretty excited to have it runnin again. The camaro just isn't the same in the winter.

So good luck every one else geting your rovers back!

Ryan

no Ma'am, i sold it cuz i couldn't afford two truck payments, and the 7.5 mpg that the LR was getting was eating me alive, so i sold to John who in turn was going to use it as an Expedition Vehicle, but it seems that his "she who must be obeyed" drew a line in the sand. the parts that are on it were top shelf hardware and had very few miles on them. i lost my ass on it but thats life. Matt Milbrandt did the install on most of the goodies, so i can say that nothing was half-assed.

Watson,

Sweet Jesus the humanity you have my sincerest condolences. It really pains me to see such a thing happen. I do hope you can find another truck to fill the hole left in your life by these unfortunate circumstances. Again I give you my deepest condolences. It just ain't right and it is most un-cool.

This concludes my current statment

thats an idea! let me ask her for some money and i will run right out and get one.

NOTE: My wife is a kind loving, extremely intellegent woman. She has been with me through the racing injuires that nearly bankrupt us and is now with me sharing the fat that working hard and smart will get you. she loves Land Rovers and all those who own and drive them. being Roverless is my own fault. She told me to live with the bad gas mileage but i am a dumbass and its my fault that the Beast sits in John's garage. she is a great woman in my eyes and heart. she has a great sense of humor as well otherwise she would have my nuts in a sling at this point. therefore understand that altho the pain of not having a Land Rover is real, any reference to my wife is tongue in cheek...

Cheers

Watson,
sell that stupid Tacoma and get another Rover. Your heart may never be the same again.

Oh, and buy your wife something she has wanted for a long time. Jewelry perhaps? Maybe just be SUPER helpful around the house. Take out the trash without being asked. Clean up after yourself, don't leave clothes lying on the floor, etc. She will have to 'allow' the purchase then. BE THE PERFECT HUSBAND....and BUY a ROVER! :-)

Now I feel guilty asking for the CDL on your soon to be parted out rig!

Maybe you can convince her to get a "cheaper" series rover... I almost have mine convinced! Good luck.

Justin,
If he wants to sale it buy it, everything on that truck is in very good shape, the add ons were based upon research and advice from this website and from my good friends at EE, so nothing was added that is not top shelf.
