Check out this link... www.maxcar.net
I find it a little weird that out of 500 imported three would have caught on fire around the same time and ended up at the same yard? Makes you wonder how often this has happened over its lifetime. Can anyone explain this?

i dont think that they are prone to fire. they are spred all over the country, so why are they all in the same area. some one is commiting arson. maybe they hate rovers, may be the owner has a killere after him. the guy has been tourching all the wrong cars. thinking that he will get paid but the mob is telling him that you have burnt out the wrong car and the guy is still alive! who knows. ask your self this , why alll in the same area. why not else where. hum csi investigation will soon figure it out.

There was a common problem of a powersteering hose bursting and causing the fires if memory serves me correct? go to D-90.com and ask they will know for sure.

thats something u need to check on all land rovers. My power steering hoses have gone bad twice, on 2 different pumps. As long as you check regularly to make sure everything is tight they should never catch fire.

Cheers

It's also the automatic transmission cooler lines and most important, the engine oil cooler lines.

All oil lines on Land Rovers are suspect and prone to leaking and bursting.

Check them all regularly. Don't buy genuine replacements, remove the lines you have and have them rebuilt at your local Aeroquip dealer. They'll be better made and will cost you 1/2-1/3 the cost of gen-u-whine.

yep - especially the oil cooler lines as Michael pointed out. ECR had a 110 a few years back for sale due to it catching on fire from the oil line bursting.
