I'm thinking about removing my mud flaps, and wanted to get ya'lls opinion, and or testimonials. Provide pics, comments, suggestions, as they are all welcome. (Charles, I bet you'll be the first to talk smack!)

Thanks.

Yo Adrian Im not sure what info you're looking for. I done it, have had no problems, looks alot better. Its was easy just a few screws to remove and some rivits to grind off. Mind you, I have a DII though, might be different for a DI

I kinda like my mudflaps -- full axle articulation that has the tire tucked into the wheel well looks that much cooler when you have your mud flaps dragging the ground :-)

take the mudflap, and tuck it up under the fender on the tire. Step back and see what you think. That's a good way to see if you like it better or not.

Thanks! This is what I was looking for; maybe I should have been more specific in my original post. I am looking at this from an aesthetic, not a functional point of view. I've done the tuck, and think I'll be losing the flaps pretty soon. I've seen posts where D1 owners are looking for replacement flaps, so I'll attempt a clean removal.

I'm uni-flap right now. Lost one on a trail and waiting for the second to follow. Don't have the heart to just rip her off. I think that if you do any wheelin' there's a very good possibility you'll lose one at some point. So my $.02 is keep em til you lose one.

Lost one rear mudflap on a trail 2 years ago. Just pulled the other off this week when I found it was hanging by just a small section. Boy, you cannot believe how much more aerodynamic my Discovery is now!!! Gas mileage must have shot up nearly 50%!!

William

Thanks I've been wondering why my MPG shot up like it did. I never would have thought it was the mudflaps.

1. They seem to be self removing.

2. The front ones looked really stupid after I removed the running boards.

3. I think I now have none, or a partial set on both sides. (At least one remaining has to be one of the stupid looking front ones.)

4. I may get another set to put on someday just before I sell the truck (long time from now).

I don't have running boards. I do like the looks, have always liked the looks of the flaps. I would probably pay the money to replace them if they broke off.

Cosmo, I like the picture in your DWeb-bio better than my mud flaps.

I chose to FLAP for the winter! The build up of snow/slush behind the rear wheel and in the bumper caps is just silly, there must be 30lbs of salty crap back there each time i've driven through the snow, That's about 6/10 times this year, I guess that i'm just getting old and dont care about the geek look of my truck at times, They do keep the rear much cleaner, Just 2 bolts and they are off,
Just my thought,
Peter.

Replace them with the "Flaming 8-Ball" or Yosemite Sam's "Back Off" ones. They look real nice on a Rover.

I lost a rear one up in GWNF. Luckily a fellow Dweb member sent me another one for the price of shipping.

I'll be grinding off the old rivits and replacing it this weekend. Don't some states have a requirement for the rear mud flaps to be on?

It may look cool, be aesthetic, but not legal. check your state regs on mudflaps.
My tech's son got a ticket for no mudflaps on his lifted cruzer. he went home & built pullout pins for removable mudflaps. ticket dismissed.

I don't like the look of the D1 mudflaps, i mean. The flaps on the D110 look good. Sean Wolfs 110 is the coolest land rover i've ever seen. Maybe defender flaps would work on my xd, hmmm

Cheers

Yea, I thought they were self removing, sort of an indicator of flex. The more gone, the harder you were working!!
