I did this over a year ago and asked people to upload some interior photos of their Disco's. Come show off your gadgets, DVD players, GPS units, etc.

It's getting close to summer time, and I'm looking to spend some money on new toys for the truck. I need some ideas. I sure some of us are unaware of how to mount a mag-lite by the drivers seat or in the rear. I've also seen lap-top mounts and fire extinguishers in places I would have never thought of.

I don't have sunroofs, and have been considering putting in at least one. I also need a GPS unit. I hear they can measure your speed on the road; that's pretty sweet.

The rules are: every post has to include a photo and some text describing it. IF YOU DON'T HAVE A PHOTO TO POST, THEN DON'T POST HERE. This is only my suggestion to keep the thread neat and clean for other viewers to check out. The only exception is a text post containing a how-to or a link to one. Let's see how we do.

BTW, I'll have my photos uploaded this weekend.

There have been a few things that i have needed to (improve) in the interior, in addition to the lap top mount for a d1, and lighting, Which i may say that Dean has done an excellent job on all that he touches. I had issues with the rear cubby boxes, as well as the rear door cover, so here's my solution! It is all 14 gauge alum diamond plate! and Very durable!

Peter - seems like they're all a bunch of poseurs here on the DWeb, you know, only caring what they look like on the outside, rather than true functionality:-)

In Dean's dictionary, "true functionality" must translate to "looks like shit"

Yes Paul, I stick the copper pipe into the lowest corner and relax while I get myself unstuck.

Throwing stones in glass houses??!!!
Dean and i have been through and over things that we should have not attempted, Yet breezed through, A discovery is an amazing vehicle, But we like to make our own items instead of handing over 1k to someone else, Nuff said, We are all here to have fun and wheel our vehicles! Here's a pic of my home made roof rack! Something good to pick on!

peter, i like the look of your winch bumper. Looks good with the original style brush bar and the functionality of a Slim Line bumper. Disco looks good with rrc wheels also. Makes me wanna go a double take.

Cheers

Jack

The best part is that the little illumination light in the cargo area still works - it's a work of art man, brings tears to my eyes...

Jack,
Yes the head unit fits in the original place of the head unit. However, there is another box (the DVD "brain") that had to be mounted behind the dashboard.

Peter, why you replaced plastic with plate on rear door anyway? So truck would lit up with one tiny light? :-) Or? Just curious.

Jack, Very good, That is a slimline with a stock D2 brush bar, I welded plates on the brush bar, Drilled and tapped the slimline, and botled it on for ease of removel incase i needed to replace winch!
Sergei, I replaced the rear Plastic, 1 because i had so many probes with the rear latch, All the plastic pins broke, I was tired of that, Also the abusive things that get tossed into the back, were slowly destroying the plastic/vinal cover, The 14 ga alum is cheap/easy to work with, and very durable!
Peter.

Ah, i see.
However it didnt look cheap to me last time i checked. Where you getting sheet metal and stuff for welding?

I'd like to make few things for me disco, but each time i look around - price of making is about same as price of just buying ready products :-(
