Get a plane ticket to Utah, have some fun at the Mormon Tabernacle, and drive it home.

I bought my Disco II from a dealer in Harrisburg, PA and shipped the car to SF Bayarea. After an extensive online research, I selected Dependable Auto Shippers and opted for terminal to terminal shipping. It cost me $890 including insurance. Unfortunately, auto shippers are a hit or a miss, and I had to wait 4 weeks for them to deliver my car, but they at least washed the car at the destination terminal. Your $1200 could be door to door and/or with guaranteed delivery date. You can save a few hundred bucks by going terminal to terminal as I did and hope for the best. Good luck.

I would fly there and drive it home if you knew the vehicle and had the time. Utah, Colorado, New Mexico could virtually be on your way home. There are infinite trails and backcountry roads to use your vehicle as it was designed. Specifically in the southwest Colorado region. Around Silverton. I have been through the area several times but never to off-road. I am dying to take my Disco II there. Did do New Mexico (Los Alamos) back in October. Rented a Durango and took it off-road. Wasn't a Disco, but was the most off-road worthy I could rent. Didn't find out about Hertz until I returned. But the trails in Colorado are better. There is a good guide book on the trail systems too. But, I guess you would have considered driving it home or you wouldn't have asked, so $1,200 seems high for shipping. I checked into it 6 months ago and it was inline with what others are indicating. About $8xx from west coast to south central PA.

Shipping from Harrisburg? I live just south of Harrisburg. What's so special about the dealer in Harrisburg? Other than the fact they have/had a D110 recently.

Here's a thought, hire me!

Sort of kidding. I look for any excuse to go to that area. Like I said, sort of kidding.

So Ben I guess I can assume you aren't coming to look at the RRC tomorrow. An email would have been considerate.

I'm guessing all the people telling you to fly out and drive it across the country probably assume you have the time. I'm assuming you don't.
DAS was $1500 for an overheight disco from Pitt to Seattle. driveaway.com wanted $1400 for it trailered or $550 to have someone drive it. To sweeten the pot, I paid for gas ($340 for a Disco). Delivered door to door. If you don't have the overly possesive issue with someone else driving "your truck" that you haven't driven yourself, it could work well. Might take a few weeks, but with Spring Break here, you might get lucky and get it sooner.

Rob! A Defender 110 in Harrisburg!! It's only 5 hours away! goooooooooo! :-)
