So i bought the Expedition roof rack a few weeks back and it was supposed to be shipped, freight, from Kentucky to Florida. For the past week I've been promised, "it'll be there tomorrow" from dispatchers. So Monday I called to track it and they said it was in Jacksonville and would be in Gainesville (1.5 hours west of Jax)on Tuesday morning. Waited all day Tuesday for it and they finally called at 6 to say there was a delay at the docks and it would be here first thing in the morning on Wed. I called today at noon to try to find out what time it would be here and they couldnt find it in Jax, it wasnt on a truck on its way to gville. After a few hours they called back and said they found it in INDIANA! (Thats north of Kentucky where it started by the way). So I called them tonight when i got home and they then said they couldnt find it in Indiana where they tracked it to this morning. What a croc of shite.

I think roof racks are over their maximum dimensional size. Are you sure it's UPS?
Is some assembly required?

yes I'm sure its UPS, its their frieght carrier. They found it today in Jax, FL. I know if I want something done I need to do it myself but being a full time college student and working a job doesnt allow me the spare time necessary to drive 15 hours to pick it up Chris and Jack. I drove over to Jacksonville today to pick it up MY SELF.

Sorry Jeff, Fedex blows, and I avoid them like the plague. About half of the Fedex shipments destined for my house has ended up at the same incorrect address across town. Seems to me that in New Jersey the Fedex policy is to just throw the package off the truck, as long as the truck is in the right zip code. According to the Fedex dispatchers, my address does not exist. Perhaps Fedex should stop using Revolution Era maps and switch to MapQuest? :-)

UPS on the other hand, I have never had a problem with.

- Axel

I'm with Axel on this one.

Had a great UPS driver back in California - he would always have a biscuit for our dog, and if we weren't home he would always leave the biscuit on top of the package.

While I always saw the same UPS guy, can't say the same for FedEx - don't know if they just don't have the same dedicated route structure or what.

The UPS guys love to joke that they do with one man what take FedEx three!

And oh yeah, FedEx picked up my transmission core and sent it to a head shop down in LA. Instead of back to Bill at GBR like I had asked. Does a transmission look like a set of heads? Took Bill forever to get the core back.

And then they refused to pick up the transmission, saying it was too heavy or improperly packaged or something. Funny thing was, they had delivered it to me in the first place!

lol... We used to say that FedEx would drop it from the plane as they flew over the city. I've also had good luck with UPS. If you really want to avoid problems in shipping stay away from AirBorne... oh wait. :-)

I have also had problems with FedEx, but not UPS. FedEx has never left a package at my house. I have always had to drive about an hour one-way to the nearest distribution point. They always say they made an attempt to deliver the package and that I would have to come pick it up. One time I was home all day and I now for a fact that the FedEx truck was nowhere in my neighborhood. They said they made the attempt but no one was home and they did not want to leave the package. UPS is the only way to go for me.

"If you really want to avoid problems in shipping stay away from AirBorne... "

Too true in this area. After haveing "Overnight - Next-Day" type packages arrive one and two days late I have adopted a "Never again!" attitude with Airborne.

After some investigation, I found that their trucks leave the barn in Monterey promptly at 8:00 AM. The only trouble is that the plane with the "overnight" packages arrives in Monterey promptly at 8:23 AM. - Hmmm?

What they do with the extra day is anybodys guess. On the other hand both UPS and FedEx are relativly competent.

Beau, You can sign a release with Fedex and they'll leave stuff for you no signature.
