Anybody ever worked for a LR Dealer? I understand that all dealers are dealers, but wouldn't it be to our advantage to have some people on the inside. Of course the aftermarket suppliers are probably better to work for and deal with. Just thinking

There are a couple folks on here that work for LR dealers. Alyssa Brown and Gil Stevens are two names that come to mind.

Ryan, there are a few of us, including me, that work at a dealer. My husband, Ron, used to work at one too. There are some other folks on here that aren't advertising they work at dealers, but do, too. And not all dealers are evil.

Ryan:

I have an independent shop and dealership which specializes in Land Rovers and Saabs. There are 3 Land Rover dealerships near me, one 3 miles away, one 5 miles away, and one 30 miles away and we depend on them for warrranty work and parts. With warranty and parts work, we are about a $150k/year account to them and we use the one farthest away because they are, by far, the best. As Alyssa said, they're not all evil, nor are they equal in terms of service, experience and honesty. Find a good one, and you won't go wrong.

I worked at a dealer for 16years, 13 of them as a LR tech. I can say that while some of them are evil, most of them are not. Most are just a bunch a guys (and gals) trying to make an honest living keeping your LR on the road. Most dealers offer some kind of free inspection. Take advantage of this and take the writen estimate to another shop to compare prices as well as a second opinion. Just like going to the doctor for a second opinion. What you need to do is one thing, build trust. If you come away feeling like you got treated fairly and got your moneies worth then use that shop in the future. Tell your friends. People who bounce from shop to shop will always feel like they got ripped off. They will never know what they just paid for, and will never trust the people they're dealing with. MTCW
