With a couple of days before LROI and others print pics, spotted these.

That looks small, somehow...no wonder they went away from the "Discovery" nameplate. There's something very forced about the stepped roofline too -- almost like it was an afterthought to somehow make it look different from every other truck out there.

I will probably be against the grain, but I like it. I will keep my older rovers for offroading, but for my wife I think it is great.

Dang, doesn't look truly as much like an Element as people thought. :-)

I wonder if I can fit those headlights on my Defender...

I like it, but if I were going to drop 40K in a new truck, it would not be that one.

Looks alot like a cross between a Freelander and the new RR. Not bad. I wouldn't buy one, but it aint ugly.

The front end looks pretty nice -- the side view on the other hand ... not so much.

I am glad I went ahead and bought an 04.

Looks like a second thread was started after this one...suppose its time for another thread in tech........Its a smart looking car that definitely will look good on a night out in town.....but a night out on the trail.....well I was a doubting thomas about the D2 with ETC, and was proven wrong, so No dissing the vehicle until I can see it in action.

Well said, Chris Browne. Wouldn't it be swell if this version was able to retain some of the offroad capabilities of its forerunners, yet eliminate many of the "issues" we have all had to deal with on our current rigs? That alone would make it worth the price to me. But then what would we be able to bitch about on Discoweb?????

I remember hearing how those "issues" were taken care of with the D2. Hmm... on another note...

I think my valves are sticking again.

How much is a new ABS sensor for my D2? What's that? I need a new hub?

What do you mean my "sealed for life" u-joints only last 40k miles?

Sorry... my SLS is acting up again... need to 'reboot' the rig.

CDL!? You don't need no stinkin' CDL! You've got ETC.

If my D2 wasn't good on the trail I would have traded it in back in the fall of 1999. Yeah... I'm suurrrre THIS new one will be better.

It's starting to grow on me but I'll reserve comment until I see one for real.

Honestly, I think the new Explorer looks better than the new LR3!! And that new E. model is awful (atleast we didn't like it as compared to the older ones).

My sister-in-law just bought a 2004 Lincoln Aviator...it's fantastic, but it's a road car with extremely comfortable seats. Looks like LR is moving that way too. Atleast Lincoln was never marketed as the best 4x4!

I think we will be buying old Rovers from now on.
