A little Nissanish on the front end. A little baby Range Rover look. Definitely has current block look trend down.

Nice F1 wallpaper on the right side.

looks like i wont be buying a new rover ever!!!
it looks like a cross between a new rr and pacifica....and the body styling is terrible. its like they tried to make it a bit more "american" in design.....it looks like crap. the mall crawlers will most likely love it.

Come on guys...it's not that bad, especially if it has the 4.4L Jag V8 in it...maybe a supercharged 400HP? Just keep the XD for the rocks and take the new one on the town!

I'm kinda glad they straightened the sills - those curvy D1-style ones were poor in my opinion.

I keep thinking Touareg when I look that that profile shot, and those tail lights sunk back down again!

I've liked it less and less with each photo I've seen. Until now. It's not bad. I'd like at least to drive it.

I will probably be against the grain, but I like it. I will keep my older rovers for offroading, but for my wife I think it is great.

If it gets better mpg than our disco's maybe we can add it to our collection. I like it!
I too hope the XD value goes up!

It would look mighty sweet with some Dub Spinners!

I totally dig the style...a bit early (even for this board) to judge the performance, don't you think?

I definitely like this style. The covered pictures made it look way to much like the Element. But this "official" picture is certainly to my liking. I think the wheelbase looks somewhat long but overall I like the end result if this is the real thing.

Now this is interesting: "one new grip handle that commands a called system "Terrain Response" Forgive the horrid av translation.
"To this point the new Land Rover Discovery to supply tarar automatically in order to face R-al.meglio that type of bottom regulating ad hoc the division of the brace, the control of the traction, the sensibility of the accelerator and the calibration of the pneumatic suspensions, offering in option."

So there's a funky handle thing that let's you pick what kind of setup you're using? Kinda like the suspension selector of the RR except it handles a few other items? Interesting, hadn't read about that before.

"This Land Rover will to make one's debut on the Italian market to the end of October to prices still to establish."

once again, sorry for the bad translation, but hadn't heard about that selector knob thingy. I had only heard here how people thought it looked like an Element. :-)

It's certainly no uglier than previous Discos :-)

If you want a good laugh, have Google translate the text.

Here's a sample:

"GIU? To 90° the motor cowling car stands out clear from the body and remains flat until the edges like a table from billiards. Also the template, composed from three gibs, is developed in a vertical plan while more low a massive bumper like little finds space others. To sporgere from the shape of the lamierati ones they are right the passaruota in plastic, above which two rabbets enliven a po? the flank."

Exactly what I was thinking.

looks better than the pictured they re-leased in an auto magazine in england back in summer '03. I'd wait a year or two before buying one, as we did with our '01 DII.

Cheers

I think it looks ok. To much plastic though. Mark my words, every rapper will have one in their video within a month of release, with 22"+ rims on it. Really want to see the drivetrain

ugly, and with independant suspension, most likely useless for any real off-roading. I can't imagine seeing one on the lion's back or at the Rubicon. Looks like a cross between the Escape and the Element!

Based just on the pictures, I am quite pleased. The general look is very much in keeping with the new LR style as shown on the latest Range Rover. And with the same suspension and TC devices as the new RR, it should be quite capable offroad. Certinly not hardcore rockcrawling, but moderate trail stuff.

Lord Lucas knows that I do love the older Rovers, but they are so full of quality problems, patchwork engineering, and old world ride and handling that they will never sell big in the US. Certainly they appeal to the die-hard enthusiast and off roader, but to the general public that buys 99.9% of new cars, they are way, way behind the curve.

Yes, to the things that matter to real offroad enthusiasts, Rthe old Rovers rule, but to the general public, they are just big, clunky, oft-broken old designs.

I predict that the LR3 (as the newest Discovery will be called) will be a VERY big seller for PAG and will, hopefully, fund the next Defender for North America.

I'm optimistic., I'd rather have the brand evolve then disapear. Besides, there is no shortage of used ones to buy and 'wheel.

defender will likely share many of it's characteristics from the new bronco. Tell u what, the land rover facia'd bronco looks a lot better than the new discovery...i think at least. Hey it'll bring the defender back to the US!

Cheers

The first thing i'd do if i got one would be lift it of course. Ford deffinatly stole a whole bunch of Land rover genes on this concept. check out the defender style fresh air vents benieth the front windshield and the hood/front wing design. This was clearly a defender in discuise when Ford released the concept "bronco"

Cheers
