What are the main differences between a 97 XD and a standard 97 Disco?

Thanks.

Waterproof seat covers with logo, low profile roof rack, brush guard, LR lights, steering skid plate, paint job, blacked out hood, black castor wheels, and it came with BFG mud terrains.

I may have missed something...

Cheers

I personally don't like the kit Land Rover picks for their "Special Vehicles". I'd much prefer to pick up a bit of this and that from each of the really good aftermarket mfgs. out there and build a better truck. If the thing came with a rear ARB (as a for instance) instead of seat covers and vinyl graphics, I might seriously consider it.

My partner has a DII Kalahari, and I think it's a bunch of horseradish. Seat covers, rack and hood blackout? Not worth the premium he paid in my opinion.

If it's about color, well... that's an entirely different matter. Also, buying a used one is much different than paying the premium the first buyer did when compared to a stock truck.

Just my opinion on what ex-trek and XD vehicles are worth versus a thoughtfully-built "standard" truck.

xd and kalahari vehicles are very different from TReK's. I didn't shell out for the XD so i'm not complaining, i like it. It was more expensive, but it gets attention and is one of 250. Kalahari's are just dressed up regulars but TReK vehicles were used in the competition and have some nostanga to them. They come functional with rock slilders/winch/re-inforced roof rack flooring.

The TReK was supplied to a Colorado Dealer Sept. '00, used for the '00 TReK competition and remained with the dealer untill '02 where it stayed in the showroom and leading the dealership off road events. It's twice as nice as the '01 SE7 i traded it for.

Owning and XD will make you instantly cool. With me, it just added to my coolness factor.
It gets massive amounts of attention, especially when I drive on sidewalks to pass stopped traffic.

Jennifer's (discochick) LE is a SVD kitted unit, and gets attention too. When she drives the XD shd gets more though.

To be honest though, the reason I bought my XD is because I want to be like Ho. But I need the EE sticker on the hood.

And I'll be the first to admit - this passion is really about getting attention. LOL

I bought my XD for a few reasons.

I had an '89 RRC, it pooped out on us, so we sold it. I wanted a rover soooooo bad after we got rid of my RRC. I waited about a year and a half trying to find another LR that hopefully wouldn't put us through more pain like the RRC did. The XD stood out like a sore thumb when we drove by on the freeway. I was just happy to finally get another rover.

The attention it gets is cool I guess. I wish it didn't stand out as much as it does though. It just catches too much attention. People always have to walk up an take a look. Too many people (kids mainly) have to touch things like my winch. I just wish they would leave it alone.

Sometimes I wonder if I flip off some asshole on the road, he'll recognize my car a month later in some parking lot and do something to it.

i have the same problem. Now my dad's got the trek i can just blame any road rage incidents on him. 98% of the people on the road don't know the difference between it and the xd. Whenever i pass a cop too they stare at the xd as it passes. With only 8 patrol car's localy i don't think it's a good thing they all know my car.

Jack,

In San Francisco at least, you don't have to worry about the patrol cop siting you for the front plate, but a DPT (parking) cop hit me with an $80 fine, no chance at a fix-it sign-off. San Francisco is one of those towns that writes a lot of tickets on folks who don't curb their tires - I once got one on Columbus, which is less than a 3% grade for the most part. Always got tickets on the Disco - I think it tends to draw attention.

I hadn't figured out how to attach my plate to the ARB - it was under my passenger seat at the time. A drill and a couple of self-tapping screws later, and I'd miraculously figured out how to mount it.

Necessity is the mother of invention.
