I have been running the Detroit for about 1 year now, Use dino oil in the diff, with frequent changes. I have noticed that at times, the locker will rise up and give me a good bang from time to time, I will first notice little clacks first! This is telling me that i have a tire 5-10 lbs low, I check and fill to the same pressure and will go 1k miles without any noise! I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this? And if your detroit is noisy, it could be your tire pressure. Just something i thought i'de share. Peter. |

i have a persistant slow leak on my left rear tire. (130 wheels) and when it 's low my DT gets a little pissy. but i'm talkin' 15 psi in left side, 40 in the right. and some are just louder than others just to be difficult. (ARB fanatics should love that ) marc |

This is really a tech post, but I'll share with you my experience. Any time I'm in a parking lot taking tight turns into or out of a space, and ask for anything more than idle creep, the tire will clearly chirp as its locked but needs to release the tension by spinning the tire |

My Detroit unlocks very well. I can drive with the steering wheel fully turned and it still drives like an open diff truck. I just get the faint clicking. |

Marc, I agree. When I got my first DT, it popped a couple times and it felt like my axle fell off. That DT only had about 100 miles on it. I blew it up as I broke an axle. I had HD axles on the way and didn't have them in yet. The next one I got has about 30,000 miles on it and has never given me a problem. Never a chirp on pavement with the CDL unlocked. It's a different story if it's locked. I think it all depends on how the locker is set up from the factory. |

My locker was set up at GBR, and 99.9% of the time is invisable, Past 3 days about 500 miles, highway, city+ parking lots, Not one noise, But it will come! BANG. |
