Gentlemen: I am now the proud owner of a Series IIA. It's rough, but it's a Series truck! After a grueling 12 hour drive of 345 miles through high winds, tornados and downed power lines, my Disco is finally given a chance to relax from pulling a U-haul trailer. I'm prepared for this forum to be as helpful to me as the Disco side was when I first bought my Disco. Man, I can't wait to get the body panels off of the frame! Anybody got a bulkhead and some frame parts for me? |

Congrats!!!
I know what you mean about storms, it was "interesting" here last night..... Got the kids out of bed and took them downstairs.... we'd have a HUGE storm blow over then dead calm. Then another huge storm followed by calm again. Doppler had twisters forming all around us, but none touched down really close by, but some did further north and south of us. http://www.thatchedroofgarage.com To quote Captain Ron, "Meet David Gage, your new best friend"..... Welcome to the blessed insanity..... -L |

Paul Go to roversdownsouth.com. George is a true series nut. Lots of great prices. If you dont see it on the web call him he either has it or can get it. |

LOL Leslie, I have a II/IIa bulkhead. Needs footwells and door posts (which I could put in), maybe better than yours, you can have it now cheap or I can rebuild it and then I would want real money. Call David Gage. George is good too. As far as frame parts If the frame is at all questionable BUY A NEW FRAME. 1450 sounds like a lot but it basically makes your rover last forever. Buy a case of PB Blaster. Go around and spray ever bolt you can see and then do it again on a few days in a row. It will allow you to see how things go together and it will make them come apart. Buy the green bible. Parts book also helps. Happy to help in any way I can. I have spares and like to think I have a general concept of how one fits together. Ron |

Ron: Just how bad is that bulkhead you reference? Just how cheap is it? I've found that I might be able to get the hinges off, if I can spray enough WD-40 in through the rust holes:-). Yeah, I know, the Tinnerman fasteners bust off leaving one with nothing to do but burn them off. I wonder how much it would cost to buy a 55-gallon drum of WD-40 (I'm only partially kidding here!) and have gases hard-piped in from my welding gas supplier? Looks like I'll be needing both! Needs footwells and doorposts, otherwise pretty solid (one small hole on top near a joint). Easy rebuild as far as bulkheads go. $250 as is or $600+ redone to a moderate standard (which might take me forever) |

The resources here on Disco web are great, but there are also some very knowledgeable series trucks enthusiasts on Rovers North's series truck BBS. Perhaps more so right now, because it has been established as a Series BBS for longer. Also check out www.gunsnrovers.com Also check out www.bayourovers.com Also check out www.roversdownsouth.com Good luck! There is a lot of series truck info out there on the web... |
