HELP I have a refurbished 1967 IIA 88 inch. Over the last month or so I have developed a groan in the rea end. It sounds like a battle ship groaning or something. I have replaced the rear diff., the T-case and engine mounts and the rear outter wheel bearing. The sound is at its worst when I take my foot off the gas and decelerate while still in gear. At times it can be heard just driving at sustained speeds. I am at a loss!

Did you replace the springs at anytime?

Did you check the splines on the propshaft (driveshaft) for slop or wear?
Are the yokes positioned out of phase? Arrows must line up.
What about the U-Joints, new or in good condition?
Lastly check the pinion angle of the rear axle both on the ground and in the air (on a lift). Any binding in the U joints? A buddy had a custom propshaft that got pinched when overextended he had to gently grind material away for clearance.
Good Luck.
