vehicle - 1967 SIIa 109 NADA version.

any suggestions on who might manufacture a tach that would blend in with the other instruments?

was there a tach offered it it originally?

same questions for the water temp. gauge.

thx in advance.

Jaime

Smiths made several different types of these gauges, there are several that should blend right in. AAMOF, this was recently discussed on the Guns-n'-Rovers BBS.....

FWIW...

Leslie-
Could you post the link to GunsNRovers? I recently tried to go there (after a long time of not checking it out) and couldn't.
Thanks,
Enoch

Sure!

What happened, it used to be on one of the other boards that dissappeared (don't remember which), and migrated over to ezboards awhile back....

Where is the temp sensor on my truck. I can't find it and niether can my mechanic friend. Series IIA 1971 and the engine is a military rebuild from Bob Davies.

IF memory serves, the military 2.25 block is different from the civilian block. One difference being the lack of a port for the temp sender. Typically, on the civilainblcoks the port is found on the front corner, same side as the distributor.

Cheers,
Paul

Well That would explain why I can't seem to find it. Any suggestions on how to get this hookedup. I am not crazy about letting my temp sensor remain unhooked.

Perhaps an aftermarket temp sender that feeds off of one of the rediator hoses would do the trick. I would a take a trip to the local NAPA.

Cheers,
Paul

Series Friends,

I am stuck with this temperature sensor problem. I have identified that I do not have a temp sensor on my rebuilt engine and I spoke to the some guys who said that it may be a capillary sensor. I have no idea where this would be or what it is. Can some one please help me.

Thomas-
I've seen you're really getting into this Series rover business. Have you tried the Rovers North Series BBS for your questions? It has been a board for a long time, and has more series folks on it than this board.
Good luck!

RN's BBS is okay... occasionally you have to have hip-waders on for that board, and thick skin, but there are a few good stalwarts around there... I just lurk anymore....

For Series, I like Art's BBS as I listed above, FWIW...

The capilary instruments as seen in some military vehicles, as I understand it, essentially are non-electrical, vacuum(?) driven gauges.... I just skimmed something on them last night in the Dec 2002 LRO mag..... just a paragraph or two, describing these instruments in the Q&A section, and basically told the person to replace 'em w/ electrical gauges....

FWIW...

I'm kind of with you, Leslie. I gave up actually posting there a while ago after a few people got too ridiculous with comment/criticism. Lots of information there, though.

I hate to jump on the bandwagon but the guys on Disco are nicer. I posted a message a little while ago and forgot to mention what kind of truck I had and I got blasted. I didn't think it was necessary and has made me a lttle gun shy of their BBS. I didn't need somebody telling me I was an idiot, I already knew that.

You guys are great!!!

Here is what I decided to do with that temp sensor; I plan to use an aftermarket sensor and use that until I can get the original sensor to work in the vehicle. I really want the original gauge to be operative rather than another gauge in the vehicle.
