Thomas,

Prepare yourself for big boobie withdrawl once she stops breast feeding. I wasn't prepared and it sent me into a depression.

You'll soon find that kids/infants *love* Rovers. When my cousin's son was inconsolable at 5 months, we would take him for a drive in the '72. Come to a stop sign or traffic light and he would howl...get moving again, and he was quiet as can be.

Congrats on your new addition....

Cheers

LOL, Series trucks are fun for all kids ages 3 months to 120 years old.....

Seriously, at school, and just about anywhere, the littluns' just love that thing. At scouts the little kids swarm (they tend to do that) and turn it into a fun-truck...

That is, until the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department Ex-Marine LAV pulled up. That rig took all of the furry of the little children...

Wha...?

A police department has an LAV-25??

No fair, I wanted one first..... :-)

How can they justify it, though? That's like handing out claymore mines to parking-ticket cops...

Dang, that'd NOT be cheap to up-keep....

Tell 'em I'll take it off their hands, come down and drive it away to get it out of there way...
:-)

LOL Les, it got it donated. I talked to the guy who drives it. He said that they got it for free and that they had it transported from Georgia for free. The vehicle had been used as a security vehicle at a Marine base somewhere in Georgia (can't remember). When he got it, it was green and didn't run. He got it running, had it painted blue, and got a new set of Michelin XCL 14.00x20 tires to put on it. Overall, the Department had about 3000 bucks in the truck. I say its not bad for something that costs 1.3 million to begin with....

They wouldn't let me drive it :-( but I can understand that. The drivetrain was a V-6 Detriot diesel hooked up to a 5 speed auto trans (why did the military go to auto?) and then a pair of rockwell 2 1/2 ton axles (I was able to spot those in the first 25 seconds :-)). To say the least, the vehicle both cosmetically and functionally.

BTW, Les, having the ability to have some sort of vehicle that can resist to any kind of firepower that the modern day thug can provide is an important resource. Other Departments around the country have them as well....

I can't believe a baby thread went to LAVs in urban warfare! I'm sorry, I'll shutup now...

I did some looking on the I-net, I think it is a M706 Commando. Here is a link and it is the first armored vehicle on the list:

Holy shit that thing looks mean. If I saw one of those on the trails I would think that I got lost and was too close to Camp David.
