I have a 1972 109 3-door ex-MoD and want to know what my options are for diff guards (salisbury in rear) and steering guards. Anyone? A 109 is pretty long to wheel, anyone have some insight/

Ron,
When did you get a 109?
QT Serivices have Salisbury diff guards
http://www.qtservices.co.uk/

For the front, i think you can use any common diff guard that would fit a disco/RRC etc.....

Anything will fit in the front. Sumo bars, or Dan Bars or just sleeving the links is the way to go with the steering. I would not worry about a rear diff gaurd but thats me.

any Dana 60 diff gaurd will fit the salisbury. There is some other guy named Ron out of Minnisota who makes really nice ones.

Ron, is the Dan Bar the same thing that most Defenders are fitted with? I looked into getting one of those from RDS (a steering protecter for 50 bucks!!) but the Defender unite will not fit a Series rover. Is this true? Is there one designed for the Series rover? If so, is there anywere to get it?

I too am looking into protection for my 109 so I am going to follow this thread closely.

Thanks y'all!!

does the Sals share the same bolt on cover as the Dana 60? You should just buy a HD cover, try searching google or pirate4x4.com for "Dana 60 cover" or something like that....

Yeah it does share the same bolt pattern. Most of the guards for this type are a tube type. I think "rons custom" diff guards are the defacto diff guard.

Dan Bars are sleeves made by MJ Lee, that thing RDS sells is something completely different.
