That is the question, I am nearing completion of my series truck restoration and my father posed the question to me the other day, am I going to take it off road. Has anyone else poored the blood sweat and sleepless nights into a resto project only to take it off road and regret it, or am I just being a silly fuck. Should I bit the bullet put some 33's on it and give it a pounding?

It was sad when I flopped Noah, but I did not even flintch, only a fender and bumper. Would have been more sad not to use her.

A series truck that doesn't get off roaded is a sad truck indeed. That yellow knob needs to get depressed and the red knob needs to be pulled back into low or the truck will wallow in it's own misery.

Mind you, I've never restored a series, but mine is a daily driver and I did roll it off road last year. She's a truck and should be used like one.

Just my $0.02.

agree with using them as after all, it is a LR. pic isn't that great, yet, its Great Sand Dunes Natl Park. fun in the sand and even with 235 tires, it did ok.

When I first laid eyes on my 109, I thought, "Man that would be a good truck to go cruisin' in". Well, after almost a year as a daily driver, I can safely say that it is a good truck to go cruisin' in. But I can also say that it rocks off road, and even better for the long trips out in the woods.

I suggest that you do both, drive it everyday, then on the weekends go play in the mud (or on the rocks depending on were you live).

Since you spent all of that time on the restoration, I think it would be wise to get the most out of the vehicle both on and off road.

Sweet trucks guys!!! As for the rolling part was that with or without a roll bar or did it not go that far?

DRIVE IT!

On and off the road.

Paint scratchs can be fixed, body panels can be fixed (if you bother-I look at my dents as souveniers of good times in the woods).

Use it as the Wilkes Bros. designed it to be used!

Oh damn, Jeff! Now you're making me feel bad! :P

Seriously, you will see Cecilia out on the trails after I replace the frame. I've heeded your warning about not doing anything crazy without a solid frame. Did John Lewis tell you the stories of taking his Series out with a rusty frame? If not, you have to ask him!!

Javier: when you get around to the frame-off, give a shout when you need a hand: be glad to help.

To me this question sounds like "To walk the dog or leave it cooped up in a very small cage all day long"

hehe
