I posted on G&R too...thought I try here too:

My distributor is installed backwards so I'm flipping it around, but I'm not sure what version it is. I'm sure I have the early model 2.25 (with a late model front cover?) because my timing marks are on the flywheel and the suffix is "A".

The distributor is Lucas but it's labelled "DM2". It has the petronix electronic module installed. What have I got here?

BTW, this is a turner engine, did they use a different distributor?

I got some good info from G&R on this thing (thanks Mark), but everywhere I see that the Series II/IIa uses the 24D and when I ordered a dist cap/rotor from NAPA using the info from Jim's site (e307/308), it wasn't even close. I'm not sure what cap/rotor combo I should order for this thing since I now find out it's a dist from the *early* IIs and Is.

I guess also I wonder if there's any advantage to the 24D instead.

That said, I completely disassembled it today, checked the centrifugal weights and springs, lubed it, installed it correctly so my new plug wires fit (thanks George), timed it by ear, reset the carb and the damn thing is running so good, I'm afraid to futz with it anymore. :-)

The early series II dizzy found on 2.25s (not the ones on the 2litre IOE) will work with the later style cap (ask me how I know?). I see no advantage to one over the other though as with all rover things there are fans of each option (early, late, ducillier, etc.)

Thanks, that may help. This'll be my third try at a cap so I'm just gonna pop it off and take it in to compare to the nice pictures in their parts manual. The new rotor came with some other spare parts, I should be able to find a picture of it too.
