Guys I sold the Range Rover and have found a Defender in Canada that I want to bring over. I know it's "grey" but I want to talk to anyone who has experience with re-titleing a Defender as a Series III. Please email me...

Not necessarily. In the UK, they rebadge vehicles for their taxation issues, then, the vehicle can be imported as whatever the VIN tag says. The tax regulations in UK are almost as bad as ours, so I can admit I'm not completely knowledgeable on how they do it, but it's legal over there, and apparently legal over here too. Just don't try to do it with a TDi diesel!

If you have the time and inclination, go to the UK, find a shop doing these inland revenue conversions and then import it.

As for one being better than the other, either way, it is a Rover and that makes them both better! Although, the elegance of carburetors and breaker points can't be ignored.

Peace,
Paul

Thats very illegal especially in the UK. The vehicle has to have the original type frame. So, say if you had a d90 and wanted it to be tax exempt and register it as a series it would have to have a leafsprung chassis . . . You cant even run a series truck over there with a coil frame without registering it as a modified or Q plate.

In spite of my having seen a vehicle tagged as such, I stand corrected.
