When removing the mechanical fuel pump for replacement or repairing, is it necessary to remove the pump and side cover as a unit (like the Green Bible says) or can I just remove the pump with the side cover in place on the side of the engine? TIA Ron |

Ron, just pull the pump...(if you can get to the bolts) David. |

Jack, no problem. Glad you had a good time and I hope no damage was done. Enjoyed meeting you and your friend and hope to see you soon. David Gage, the reason for all the fuel pump chatter is that I think I smell gasoline in my oil. There is a leak from the sump pan gasket and the oil on the pavement smells slightly of oil. The dip stick too. Very slightly, mind you, but enough to make me think about it out loud. The oil filler cap on the valve cover smells just like the cap on my 1997 Disco. Any thoughts on it?
