Disco normally runs fine.Fuel pressure as well as normal diagnostics check ok by dealer. After disco is run for an hour in typically 70F or higher Outside air temps refuses to start after brief shutdown. Any ideas? |

Swap in a 2.25 petrol mine always starts. even with a dead battery you can crank start it.

You may have vapor lock. Try placing a cold towel on the fuel line before your Zenith, Solex, or Weber. = The aluminum looking thing called a carburator, its inbetween the oil bath and the intake manifold, about 2ft up from the leaf springs. Hee hee.

Russ, more than likely your Fuel temp sensor is bad. Almost all of us hot climate Disco'ers have had that problem |

Vapor lock in definatly not a problem with a disco, fuel temp sensors never go bad, Diesel engines are great for fuel economy but overall they suck.( no power and turnpike cruiser's all over again)Chevy Vega's, Ford Escorts and the new T.D. Beetle, not what a true off roader wants. (U.S. Petro Is not that expensive yet) If your excited about crank starting you engine, get real, this is 2002 and the system should work the way it was designed. Batteries don't leave you stranded unless you don't maintain or monitor there preformance.(this incudes leaving you lights on in the Mall Parking lot) Have you fuel pressure tested beetween starts, Will it fall rapidly, It shoud stay around 35-42 psi. (If so it may indicate leaking fuel injectors) also when it finaly starts is there black smoke comming from the tail pipe, This also can be a Sign of leaking injectors, we need to know the miles are on the vehicle, and you need to have a testbook connected to monitor engine temp sensor on hot starts. There is about 15 different failures that can cause this problem, ranging from a coolant sensor stuck at -40f to lack of compression in the engine, I dont think its as serious as the lack of compression, but most likly you have a failed fuel injector, coolant sensor, or faulty conections in the fuel infector harness.
