This is a D90 window but I thought the series folks could help:

I busted out one of the sliding glass panes on the door top and just got the new glass today. I was expecting directions with the glass but no luck! No info in the workshop manual either. Anybody know how to get it into the frame. Thanks in advance,
Sean

BTW it's the outer pane with the little plastic thingy.

you have to unscrew the felt window seals. there are screws set it there... and are probablly rusted.... once you get them out remove the black felt seals.... the window should pop out ... remove the top felt strip first .. hoppfully this helps...

you will have to also remove the forward anglaur alloy strip... then remove the angular glass... remove the screws and top felt... the unit will fall in ward ... you will see....

you go to dig them out... they are there you will probablly wreck the felt in doing this. i sugest taking something sharp and poking up to find the screws... they are very small with tappered heads... but than again im talking on a series rover..... good luck

Mickey - Youre leading this guy on a goose chase. On a D90 doortop there is only felt tracking in the top channel and its glued in, and they dont rust because the D90 doortops are made from Aluminum. There is also no aluminum strip at the front because both windows slide on a d90 doortop. And the excessive use of ellipsis is anoying . . . knock it off.

Sean,
I looked at my set of doortops and it looks like there are several phillis screws in the lower track you will need to remove. I THINK this holds the inside lower edge of the door top in place. Notice how its also held in place with two tiny rivets on each end as well. That seems to be the way these come apart. Hope that helps

Ike...

What...you don't like....elipses?

Would multiple hyphens suit you better---or maybe not---?

:-)

Ike,
Those screws were the first thing I tried and that doesn't work. I called RN and asked them for a little advice. They said I needed to drill out the two rivets and all would be wonderful. I drilled out the two rivets and the damn thing still wont budge. I'll get back on the phone with RN in the morning. Thanks for your help guys. Cheers,
Sean

There is some adhesive in there to hold it in place. It might take some work to get that peice off.

Sean-

Try a hair dryer on high to soften the adhesive. If you have good insurance a heat gun might do the trick also.

It all worked out in the end. I got it all back together with a little struggle. The trick was to drill out the rivets and remove the screws from the slider assembly. The struggle came from the locking mechanism. Lets just say I have some paint to touch up:-) Thanks for the suggetions!
