I have an early version Ashcroft mated to a Series 2A gearbox and just put about 500 miles on it. Probably has less than 1000 miles total. I noticed during the trip that it was noisier in 4th than 3rd or 2nd. Almost sounded like someone put the old Fairey overdrive back in. Anyway, I drained the "oil" only it was more like liquid silver. O.K., not that shiney, but it wasn't the clean oil color. Far from it. Will be inspecting it at a well known shop tomarrow. The shop already has one or two with misaligned or oversized intermediate shaft holes, the big one that you pay Ashcroft to drill correctly. Any problems other than mine? |
