I have a 65 IIa which is the earlier style steering wheel. The steering box seems to be bad. I cannot find a replacement or rebuild kit from any of the usual suspects (AB, BP, RN) Anyone have advice, a source, or an old-style steering box?

post it on http://pub49.ezboard.com/bgunsandrovers and you might get some additional help.

also check out http://www.land-roverco.com

could also give ECR a call for some parts leads.

Ted: nice to see you on Dweb: hope Marilyn is well.
Yup, this is a common situation: the series 3 box is available and will fit, but the older banjo steering wheel will need a custom adaptor in order to fit onto the newer steering shaft: a competent machine shop can make one.

When will we see some photos of the 2a? Art's got some of mine on his site.

Hey David,
Well having seen your rig in person and online, I would be embarrassed to post any pictures quite yet. Up to now I have been putting my $ into the Disco (Suspension, Tires, & CDL - '02 disco required new t-case housing to fit CDL) But now that I am mostly happy with the Disco it is time to get serious about the Series. Priorities in order Steering, Suspension, Paint, Interior... then maybe a Turner engine like you have. I will probably be willing to post some before and after shots after the paint! I'll e-mail you some before shots. Oh, and Marilyn is great, thanks for asking. Hello to Micah.

cheers,

Ted

Ted: just got the new RN series catalog in the mail: page 30 says that they now have 2a steering boxes as well as series 3: quite spendy, but available.
