Well Puddles is now 100% recovered from the roll over. She got new paint this weekend care of my backyard spray gun and Rustoleum paints.

The gallery have the new pics up top and pic from the roll over below:

Jeff,

What type of heater and distribution box do you have?

Kodiak MkIV

Here's a web page showing the differences:

http://php.indiana.edu/~idgoss/kodiaks/kodiak.html

It was a retrofit to my truck (mine was built in June of '64). Probably a dealer install at the time as it was very cleanly done.

What is the passenger foot well space like, with the Mark IV in place? More than adequate (assuming my size 14's will be driving)?

Adequate is about right for foot space. Most of my friends who are big have a problem with shins into the dash, not the heater.

Jeff,

Glad to hear Puddles is fully recovered! You should come out with SCLR to "Area 51" in June so we can see the new improved version. John Lee is leading.

Congrats,

Yeah. I will try to meet up with you guys. I should have the engine done by then as well. My May project is a new head and exhaust manifold.

Every time John or the guys go to Area 51, I am off somewhere else. All this time and I've still never been there....

Thanks for the foot space info Jeff. I think I'll get that Mark IV I found.

Nice job on the paint too. You said *backyard sprayer*, what did you use? Did you mask of the cappings or remove them?

I masked the cappings. I could have removed everything and re-revited, but I was lazy. I had to have it all down over a weekend (it's my daily driver). The blue masking tape is nice. Removes real easy with no residue. The PO painted the cappings anyway, so the masking tape was nice as it actually pulled off some of the silver paint he used to reveal pretty clean galvanizing in most areas.

I just used the spray gun that came with my compressor. When I bought the paint, the hardware guy said I could shoot it straight out of the can. In retrospect, I should have cut it with thinner. Live and learn.

2 1/2 quarts painted the exterior. 1 1/2 quarts painted the interior.

I' have the same thing. I'd like to clean up the cappings, but hold off on painting the body for now. Eventually I will, and do it myself.

Thanks for the info.

Looking good Jeff!

Ron

Tom P. I have a mark IV (and a mark I and Mark III) sitting at the house if you want to test fit it. Don't pay real money for a heater. The most expensive of the lot was $50, the mark IV I got for $5

What paint color rustoleum is that? I have not seen a tan in the stores near me.

Gloss Sand (#7771). The Ace Hardware here had it in spray and quart cans.

thanks Jeff.

Oh ya BTW I am pretty sure that the Mark IV was available by 64.

Ike's site also says Mark Is were only SI. This is incorrect as Noah (59 SII) had a mark I in her stock.

In addition to Kodiaks there are also a number of smiths heaters. The shin burner sucks but the box and SIII ones are not terrible. Most of the issues I see is that the cores are clogged so there is no flow ergo no heat. I have had one of each of these as well.

Ron,

Thanks for the info. What is *reasonable* for a Mark IV??? I don't need a heater until August/September, so I do have time time to search. I was going to try to negotiate on that Mark IV I found, but I'm sure it'll be expensive ($200?).

Keep your eyes open for a Mark IV - I like that form factor and the core size. I can even get it re-cored locally if needed, as long has the case/box/sheet metal is solid.
