Hey Guys-I am troubleshooting the operation of my parking brake and I want to know how much movement you get from the pads when the hand brake is engaged. I don't think that there is enough there but I don't have anything to comapre it to. |

The transmission brake is really easy to adjust. Faciing the front of the car on the right side of the gearbox you will see where the linkage goes comes up and then across the top of the gearbox. This is assuming you have a factory import left hand drive. The bar that is going up should have a bit of a bend in it, at the top there are two nuts. You can use these nuts to tighten the entire linkage by shortening or lengthing it. I live on a rather steep hill and just keep tightening it until i dont roll at all. This has worked for me in the past. Assuming you have good pads there is no need to remove the drum. Hope that answers your question. |

Hey Charles Thanks for the advice. I spent three hours on that son of a bitch today and I am frustrated. I just about had it when I realised that I hooked up the expander arm backwards and had to pull it off and then I spent an hour trying to get back to where I was. I'll try again tommorow. I thought someone said that these were great vehicles to learn on. CHEEEEEEZ |

Well Consider me an expert. Once that prop shaft was taken off I could lay the brake on the bench and take my good ole time replacing the shoes. Take my advice and take the prop shaft off. Screw Haynes! |
